Comment: Oh, Christie!!! I love the card and what you wrote. I would love to tell you more about my work, I'll send you an email with two papers I wrote with a colleague and my advisors. I hope your feedback! I have a cat, Fifi, I've always had cats at my house, since I was a child... I can't live without them! And last December we adopted a dog that was abandoned on the road. My daughter Catarina said it was a Christmas miracle, as there were 10 days left for the 24th! I've lived in 9 cities and in 12 different houses since I was born.... I love change! I also danced and taught jazz classes in my teens for kids!
I love the beach and here in Aveiro we have one 15 minutes from our house. Last week we bought a not too big pool for the kids to enjoy the summer!

Thanks for sharing! You have great taste! I'm still listening through, but I've found a couple of good ones that I had never heard of as well.
Also had this mix cd of french songs and I never knew where Quelqu'un m'a dit came from. I kind of thought it was just done for that cd. I am totally going to listen to the rest of her music!

Comment: It's not really an artist trading card, because lack of handdrawn or haindpainted element. It's a stamped image with buttons and chunks of glitter and ribbon. It doesn't even fit a plastic sleeve. It finally arrived almost a month since you sent it. If you'd sent the envelope with a usa forever global stamp you'd have saved money and my time making a customs declaration. Never use usps to deliver stuff abroad.
Response: I spent over $17 getting this to you. I followed the instructions and used a technique known as mixed media. Many people like to have ATCs that have some dimension. I kept you updated with shipping information, sending multiple messages. I had to do what the people at the post office told me to. If they were wrong that isn't my fault. I had to fill out a customs form too.
For the record, here are the rules that I followed.
"The ATC must feature one or more mermaids.
No sticker slapping or unaltered printed images. Using more than one type of media/method is encouraged but not required."
Due to the way this has gone I will certainly not be doing any more international swaps.

Comment: I love the dare, creating in a medium I've been nervous about. That would definitely be oil paints. They're so complicated to use. Maybe less difficult would be acrylics.
Response: Yes, they are! But at the same time, you can do so much with them...and you get to smell turpentine, which to me is the best part. (I have done oil paint by numbers and nothing else, but my mama went to art school so she has told me a lot about oils.) My husband loves acrylics. Just have fun, whichever you choose!

Comment: I loved your card and today I did your dare and ended up talking to my older neighbor down the road and got to meet her grandsons too! I recently bought a house so this was a wonderful prompt.
Response: I'm so glad! I just knew that there are so many people on our street that we have never really met, and I think it is like that for most people now. It is sad to me because when I was a kid I knew all of my neighbours, even if I couldn't actually interact with all of them because quite a few were dangerous! lol

Flu-shay isn't so bad, but it's wrong, so yeah, haha. Still, I love my name and it's history, which us why I made my husband hyphenate with me (Gillikin has It's own list of bad pronunciation; Gilligan most often 😊).

I didn't recognize the album art for "85" and when I looked it up saw that it was on Rilo Kiley's first release, The Initial Friend E.P., which isn't on Spotify. Note to self: add "One Fine Day" and "December, 1963 (Oh, What a Night)" to my Motown-ish/oldies playlist... thank you for reminding me of those songs. I angsted greatly and ended up omitting Christina G Rossetti from my Female Poets E-Mail (but was so pleased to see you had included her), and we both included Sappho. That said, I am a great fan of Margaret Atwood. She writes poetry, Science Fiction/Fantasy & Fiction - my goodness, what can't she do! It was a very thoughtful selection which I appreciated reading.

Comment: You should host the refrigerator swap idea! I bet people would join. Hosting isn't difficult. Just come up with a good descriptive description that outlines the rules exactly. Check profiles before assigning partners and voila, you should have a good swap. Happy swapping and thanks for sending!

Response: Thanks! lol I was afraid I was being the most boring person on earth! I've horrified my friends and family by telling them what I bought though...I guess not everyone thinks that throwing knives are a good buy. lol We may go yard saling again tomorrow if I am feeling better so who knows what we'll find. Comment: OUCH! I hope your tooth is feeling better. Ironically, I am getting my 6 wisdom teeth removed in April. That's right, 6!! I'm a nervous wreck.
Response: I will pray that your surgery will go as well as mine did. Believe it or not, mine was really the least painful tooth extraction experience I've ever had, and they got it over with very quickly. I couldn't believe it--6 teeth in like 35 minutes! The laughing gas helped a LOT though! I just laid back and focused on one of my "happy places" and it was over very soon. Just don't do like I did and wait to get your pain medicine prescription filled until after the novocaine has worn off!
