Hello!

Thank you very much to the hosts who set up the swaps. When partners are assigned, I read the person's profile and send the requested items geared toward their preferences, wishes, and avoid dislikes. I keep records of what I send, the date, and a picture of the envelope. When I receive Bent corners on postcards I know my profile has not been read. Completed swaps are placed in my mailbox and counted as sent. I have a wonderful mailman who takes special care of my outgoing mail. I rate swaps when received that day or in the morning of the next day.

I found a new friend on Swap-bot who lives near me. Her profile mentions the Denver Postcard Club. I joined and love going to meetings. We have monthly meetings with fantastic topic presenters and we can look through and purchase postcards. I participate twice a year in the Children's Hospital Postcard Project, filling 200 envelopes with postcards, a postcard bookmark, and stamps to introduce postcards and different stamps.

The Whale is my Spirit Animal. I have been collecting whales (mostly Humpback) for over 40 years, and one day I hope to see one breach. We tried once, but the three-day rain didn't allow the day trip. I have traveled to all the states except Alaska. My 2020 trip planned to Alaska was canceled. I am going to try again in 2021. Update!! I visited Alaska in May!! Wahoo! We saw Orcas, but none breaching.

Favorite Crafts

Love to sew and do machine embroidery. I have a granddaughter with very specific ideas for costumes and decorating her clothing. She gives me challenges for sewing projects. In 2022 she asked for an anime character - Sophie Hatter from Howl's Moving Castle for Halloween and also to wear at an anime fest. I learned a lot about anime and watched the movie. I enjoy new techniques in my sewing and love to make the Free Standing Lace Angels offering to everyone who visits. I learned to make Microwave Fabric Bowls and went nuts making over 400 sets of them so far. I use them instead of flat potholders. Joann Fabrics, Michael's, and Hobby Lobby are my kind of toy stores!

Lately, I have been making paper napkin-covered envelopes. They are fun to send in the mail and easy to make. YouTube and Pinterest have several videos to use paper napkins for crafts.

Favorite Places to visit

I love to visit Mt Rushmore. Since 1963 it is the most visited spot ever for me and I find something new each time. One time, my dog went with me on my trip from Illinois to Montana. Animals are no longer allowed on the Presidential Walk or in the amphitheater. I have over 650 different postcards for "MyMen" with each one a distant cousin or Teddy married to a cousin. Mine are in three large binders now instead of a photo box. I have wooden cards, real photo black and white, linen cards, 3D, lenticular, and the new 4x6 size. I recently found a 5x7 linen I didn't know that size existed.

I would go back to Europe in a heartbeat and revisit Castles and distant relatives in Switzerland. New England's historical sites are very much fascinating to me. The Whaling Museum is also on my bucket list.

Postcards

I consider myself a deltiologist - one who collects postcards. I prefer postcards to be blank and protected in an envelope to avoid bent corners. USA Touristy postcards are my Most Favorite! I no longer collect or save international cards except for Switzerland and Germany for ancestry purposes. I prefer 4x6 or smaller. Larger cards are difficult to store.

I have Colorado cards galore, send me a different state card, please.

I am a dog person - Dachshunds and I collect whales (mostly humpback whales). Please send other animal cards to those listing animal requests in their profiles.

Postcards --- City views, Edition-TausendschΓΆn, Historical sites or Historical people, Jefferson's Monticello, Lantern Press, Large Letter State and City (Greetings from with pictures inside the letters), Linen, Map or map shape cards (other than Postcard Fair), Maxicards, PCs with cutouts, Washington's Mount Vernon, Hold up to the light cards, Vintage touristy, Pictorial Map, Postallove State and Country cards, Postcrossing meetup, and The Writerie.

Lou Paper State Series - looking for Delaware, New Hampshire, North Dakota, and Vermont (I don't think these have been created yet) and other non-state related.

I am also looking for postcards for Elgin, Illinois, my hometown.

(I am no longer collecting other countries except for Germany and Switzerland)

I also collect unused or used Busy Tourist's Correspondence Check-Off when I can find them. I would be happy to trade for these, let me know your Wishlist.

Likes/dislikes/confused

Likes --
Civil War/Revolutionary War, Dachshunds, Germany, Monticello, Mount Rushmore, Mount Vernon, Presidents - (Jefferson, Lincoln, and Washington), colorful paper napkins, Patriotic themes, Pine cones, Scooby-Doo, Snowmen, Statue of Liberty, Switzerland, and Humpback Whales.

Dislikes or not into--

Those cheap sepia 32-pcs Vintage Travel Sights Landscape Retro Postcards from AliExpress, Amazon, Wish, Temu, or other sites (smaller cards without description on the back. The back is a sepia tone with just boxes on the top left.)

Please send Zazzle, Postcard Fair, Homemade postcards, ATCs, Tea bags, religious items, Cat items, kawaii, washi tape, or bits of paper to someone else! When I receive these, I know my profile has not been read.

Bent or worn corners on postcards and smoky or moldy-smelling postcards are not saved or passed to others. I have to give them away or pitch. Please protect cards traveling through the mail.

Sad to say dislikes or disappointments are the flakers and non-raters. I am getting my share. I will no longer seek out a rating.

What is so difficult in spelling my name correctly? It is Frieda, I dislike it spelled Freida.

If you do not receive the swap, let me know. I can send a photo of the envelope and I will resend it if needed.

I will do direct swaps, contact me with items you would like.

Thank you for reading to the bottom.

Comment: Another envelope for me to use as a folder, just in time. I collect receipts for reimbursements and your envelopes never get lost! Thank you for the great postcards and I'll make a little note to not send you back the whale and cats. The hiker is perfect for a weekly postcard to my 99yo aunt. She does not stop!

Comment: Thank you, Frieda. Your paper napkin envie is gorgeous. I often use bits of napkins in my collages, but have never tried the envie technique. The surprise cards are fun too. Always a treat to get a swap from you. EDIT: added the heart πŸ’—, which should have been there in the first place. Sometimes my arthritic fingers don't tap hard enough. πŸ’—πŸ’—
Response: You are welcome, fun swap. Always a pleasure to be partnered in swaps. Thank you for the heart.

Comment: Hello dear Frieda . . . thank you so much for the beautiful mail art you sent. I hope you'll forgive my extremely tardy rating; I took 6 weeks off from swapping due to an illness in my family. It's always a pleasure swapping together and your swap was very special.
Response: You are very welcome, fun swap. Hope all is well. Thank you for hosting and for the heart.
