About Me

I'm a children's book author, children's bookseller, and paper-crafter mostly working with vintage children's books that are falling apart or too damaged to have any collectible value. I make ATCs, mail art, altered books, collage, etc. I live about midway between NYC and Montreal. My daughter is from Ethiopia, and she and I like to make art together.

Likes: old children's books, interesting typography, mail art, dogs, wood, real beeswax candles, unusual rubber stamps, vegetarian recipes, mythology, silk ribbon, gardening, hand-marbled paper, museum postcards and museum maps, buttons, fossils, old scientific/lab/field notebooks, vintage menus, old postal ephemera, vintage dog postcards, seascapes

Dislikes: anything too "cutesy" or sentimental or religious, cactus, dolls (except Crazy Paper Dolls!), fur, Disney, chewing gum, leather, drivers who ignore pedestrians in the crosswalk, black licorice, spiders, parents who smoke around their children, crayons

Response: One of my favorites, too! I only cut up this copy of the book because some child had scribbled freely, and some pages were torn.

Hi, Just finished my "Crazy Paper dolls, so wanted to tell you it is the most fun thing I have done in a while. When I was a kid paper dolls were for designing out fits, now I know designing the dolls is way more fun. Thanks for sharing your great idea.
