I graduated last year with a degree in English literature, and I am currently working in communications for a small charity, in Edinburgh.
I like to knit, and make cards, and play with fimo and generally have a bit of a go at most crafts that come my way. I like to cook and bake too!
I adore animals - I have three cats: Elvis, Louis and Mollie, and a hamster named Hugh. I used to have rats as well, but they've all passed away now :( I'd love a dog, but I work all day so it wouldn't be fair to leave it at home alone for such a long time.
I really like going to charity shops - I'm always on the look out for vintage textiles and coloured glass vases/bowls/anything.
I am here to make friends. I would really like to connect with people that I have a lot in common with and hopefully remain penpals with after a swap is over. I love making new friends :)
I am a huge 80s movie fan, particularly of the teen genre - John Hughes was a master of cinema! Pretty in Pink is one of my favourite movies of all time, and Duckie is my soulmate. Anything Brat Pack-esq is wonderful as far as I'm concerned. Oh, and The Lost Boys, obvs.
My other favourite movies include - Withnail and I, The Blues Brothers, Play it Again Sam, True Romance, Edward Scissorhands...and many more!
Mostly I read trashy crime novels. I love a good hard-boiled, wise-cracking detective complete with morally ambiguous side-kick. Some of my favourite crime fiction authors are: Harlan Coben, Robert Crais, Robert. B. Parker, Raymond Chandler, Michael Connoly, Tess Gerritsen, Sara Paretsky, Lisa Gardner, and many others I just can't think of right now. I tend to prefer American crime fiction over anything else - I like reading about all the different cities the detectives live in.
Obviously, with my degree in eng lit I do like 'proper' books as well - Jane Eyre is my favourite book of all time, love anything by Margaret Atwood, Jonathan Coe, Chuck Palahniuk (so cliché)...
I specialised in Medieval Literature at uni, and I absolutely adore Arthurian Romance.
I watch WAY too much TV...
My favourite shows include: The Office (US and UK), 30 Rock, It's Always Sunny, Community, True Blood, Vampire Diaries (lol @ me), Eureka, Psych, Dexter, Bored to Death, Modern Family, Being Erica, Glee, Big Bang Theory, Family Guy, American Dad, My So Called Life, Freak and Geeks, Supernatural, Heroes, Chuck, Pushing Daisies, Star Trek, Next Generation, Voyager, Babylon 5, X-Files, Californication, Black Books, Peep Show, Red Dwarf, Teachers, QI, Have I got News For You, Still Game, Bottom, The Young Ones, and loads of others...
I love anything to do with animals, I think penguins are just the funniest little critters; I like most colours, especially greens, yellows (not bright, more pastels and mustards), pinks, peaches, duck-egg blue, navy, lavender; I love things that smell of vanilla, or apple pie, or autumnal scents - I like to make my room smell warm and safe; sweeties!; black and white or old photos; photo frames; candles; I like dinosaurs, esp triceratops; books of course, obviously I love books; funny things - I love anything that will make me laugh... And baths, I love taking baths and I'm pretty well obsessed with Lush!
I don't like spiders, tea, coffee, liquorice. I'm not hugely into Disney or Hello Kitty or any of that stuff - I do like cute things, but not really branded cartoons if that makes sense? Not sure what else, I'm sure I'll think of more later.
