Used to be very active in swapping a few years ago. I took a break when I lost my job.
Now that I'm back on my feet, settled in a job, etc., I thought I'd check out swapping again.
If I sent you a friend request recently, we've had a successful swap or two, and interacted in the forums - though you might not remember me :-)
I'm in my mid-30s, live with my boyfriend and our dog. We spend a lot of time reading, eating out, watching sci fi. He's becoming a great cook, and I'm a pretty good eater. :-) We're learning to play chess, and I'm trying to teach him cribbage.
I'm going to be an aunt for the first time this summer, and I'm over the moon. I plan on making a ridiculous amount of baby items this spring.
I do a lot of different crafts, but I'm really focusing on sewing and quilting these days, with some crochet on the side.
I've pretty much given up knitting, and paper crafts and I never got along much.
I also like to do stitching of all kinds - embroidery, cross stitch, hardanger.
All the Star Treks, Big Bang Theory, Vampire Diaries, Teen Mom, Jersey Shore. Most sci fi. We don't have cable, so whatever I can watch on Netflix, Hulu, and other web sources. I'm not someone who really gets into a show so much that I talk about it online, or collect things from it, though.
I'm a pretty picky person, unfortunately. I am NOT a collector of things, trinkets, cute little bits and bobs. Things need to have a function for me to make room in my life for them.
I'll keep the list of absolute NOs to a minimum: , highly scented things (especially florals), anything religious (any religion). Anything used, dirty, etc.
I'd prefer things from non-smokers, but if you're my partner, and you smoke, there's not much we can do about that. Same thing with pets. I'd appreciate if an effort was made to keep swap items away from odors.
Things I don't really need: paper products (stickers, note cards, pads of paper), ATCs, matchboxes, dotee dolls, friendship books, tea/coffee/hot chocolate, gum, chocolate.
I'm not really in to any particular themes like vampires, Hello Kitty, ladybugs, etc., but if something fits into the theme of a swap, cool.
I'm mostly interested in swapping for sewing/quilting related things, craft patterns and magazines, crochet items and other items that can be used in fabric-related crafts.
I especially love trading internationally and getting some things I can't always find here.
Always appreciated:
My favorite color is pink, but I'm trying to branch out. The only colors I really don't like are muddy/dusty/"earthy" colors. I prefer things that are bright.
I don't need too many edibles, but I do like fruity things like lemon drops, jelly beans, mentos.
I like modern fabrics, large and small prints, especially geometrics. Florals, stripes, dots, tone-on-tone are all good.

I was looking at the forum regarding getting newbies rated. I was wondering if you are talking about homemade pincushions or store bought? I would be interested in a homemade swap in the fall. Just too busy this summer with work and altering wedding and bridesmaid gowns.
Thank you for the dotee (forum tag), she's very sweet!
I'm so sorry you feel the need to leave ~ myself I'm only doing swaps within my groups ~ that could be a good idea for you as well. If you get the urge to swap something privately let me know. Cheers Lin
