Description:

Welcome to Operation HAREMAIL (Help A Rabbit Explore Many An Interesting Location)!!

Operation Haremail is a rabbit-themed, Easterish sort of a swap. The suggested dollar value for the packages are $10-$12, and the contents can be anything rabbit-related. Chocolate rabbits, stuffed rabbits, pictures of rabbits... anything but actual rabbits.

If you'd like some ideas, this page has some links to what a lot of the participants did last time:

So... this is what you do:

STEP ONE: Sign up for Swap-Bot if you haven't already, and then register for Operation Haremail here. Make sure you fill in any special information you have, like if peanut butter bunnies make you break out in welts or something, that might be a good thing to mention. If you keel over dead from your Haremail, we are all going to be really depressed, so help a brother out and pipe up.

However, do keep in mind that "I only allow Godiva chocolate truffles to pass my royal lips" does not qualify as special information. Calm down, your majesty.

DEADLINE FOR REGISTRATION IS TUESDAY, MARCH 27.

STEP TWO: On Wednesday, March 28, your new Bunny Buddy's name and address will be emailed to you.

STEP THREE: Put your Haremail package together, and mail it by FRIDAY, APRIL 6 at the latest. That gives you ten days to put something together. Maybe you wanna mail it earlier in the week so your partner gets it by Easter. That'd be nice, but I know we have a slightly more accelerated time table than we had last time, so you'll have to be quick like a bunny to get it there that early. But if you absolutely can't make it before then, like if you are making a gold bunny sculpture out of spray-painted macaroni and it take until April 6th for your glue to dry, that's ok.

Questionably tasteful, but ok. (Package guidelines below.)

DEADLINE FOR MAILING - FRIDAY, APRIL 6 (GOOD FRIDAY).

STEP FOUR: Wait anxiously for your mailman/woman/rabbit to deliver your package from your bunny buddy. Once it arrives, have yourself a little Haremail party. Dance in your pants. Or, you know, eat yourself into a chocolate coma. Whatever makes your little leg thump.

STEP FIVE: Say thank you. Email, snailmail, blog entry, however you want to do it. I'll set up a special entry here for posting Haremail results, and y'all can leave links to your blog entries if you want to share your goodies with the rest of us. But do say thank you, or at least acknowledge that your package has been delivered so your partner knows you got it.

That's it!

FOR ADDITIONAL FUN: Print out this official Operation Haremailing Label for your package!

GUIDELINES + FINE PRINT:

I would prefer that participants have blogs. It's not a slight against non-bloggers, it's just that last time, almost all of the people who didn't come through with their packages were people who didn't have blogs, and therefore didn't have any good way to be contacted outside of email, which I found had a strange tendency to be ignored when it involved questions like "dude, where's your haremail?"

That being said, since those people were the vast minority, I'm going to say it's also open to

  • anybody who did it last time.

  • anybody I actually know, either online or in real life (that way I know you're loopy instead of merely suspecting it).

  • anybody with a positive rating on swap-bot.

  • anybody who is a regular commenter on Polka Dot Mittens.

Of course, if you really want to participate but maybe you're shy and you don't leave comments, or you don't have a blog, email me and say hi. I'm a friendly sort of person, and I'd be happy to include you if I at least recognize your name. I am mostly trying to filter out the people who drop by out of the clear blue and sign up with no intention of sending anything back.

Unfortunately, I am going to have to say that it is NOT open to:

  • anybody who did it last time and didn't send a package. (There were a couple that were sent out late, and if you were one of them, that's okay. You can still play. I understand about the lateness... I meant to do this last week.)

  • anybody who does not provide their full name. First name AND last name. Unless you are Madonna. Or Cher. If you're that worried about someone finding out who you are, maybe a mail swap is not the thing for you.

  • anybody I just plain old get an bad feeling about. Last time I really just wanted to include everybody, and I did, even when I thought "you know, this person says his name is "Pea" and s/he lives in Singapore and that just strikes me as sketchy and peculiar" and danged if ol' Pea didn't stiff his/her swap partner. I don't even think they HAVE peas in Singapore.

And it's an international swap, so if you live somewhere that is not the US, you can participate as long as your bunny buddy is cool with it. Me, I like international haremails, but some people just might not want the extra postage. And I have NO idea what the rules are about mailing chocolates and bunnies internationally, but y'all are very smart and attractive, so I am sure you can find that out on your own.

If you have any questions, please leave me a message, and I'd be happy to answer them.

Happy Haremailing!

Doh -- if the Velveteen Rabbit doesn't join this swap, something is wrong in hare! ;)

Coffeelatte 03/20/2007 #

OK...I don't really have an official blog...Will you take "Flickr is my blog"? I post there (usually more than once a week) and the link to my Flickr pages is in my Swap-bot profile.

I love this idea. For my partner, I am more on the "bunny themed" item side of this swap than the "candy" theme. I an also a dark chocolate type person (not milk chocolate, at all...)

And, you are right, there are restrictions on sending candy to some countries internationally. My friend tried to get Kinder Eggs shipped to the US from Canada and they were confiscated in customs...so good reminder to check before anyone sends outside their own country.

user2320 03/20/2007 #

Hey, me too with the Flickr. And I am a responsible swapper.

I love bunnies, and all kinds of candy will eventually be consumed in my house. As a yarn-freak knitter, I also love Easter-colored yarn in any weight. Check my Flickr site to see what I've indulged in this past month.

jewels1 03/20/2007 #

Hi! Please, please can I play? Your description is so darn cute I can't resist, and plus, I already used a lot of ink printing out that cute haremail label, you can't tell me no now, I promise I'll play nice! I don't have a blog, but I do have a dog, does that count? It sounds the same . . . blog . . . dog . . . see??? Oh, and I might have a clog (well, maybe it's a hare-ball), like in the bathtub, my girls have really long hair.

You have my first and last name, and I'll even give you my middle name, it's JoAnne...

The pictures I post go here in the swap-bot galleries. I have a really big profile with good ratings here on Swap-bot, check it out! Thanks!

alex 03/20/2007 #

Hi...liking this idea...i don't have a blog, I dont have a dog, I may have a clog(well croc actually) I sometimes sit on a log...I sometimes read the funnies...and I always send out my bunnies! I have good ratings, always send my swops out as soon as I get my partner..also international....please can this UK bunny wabbit buddy join???

mazzam 03/20/2007 #

EEEEEK what do those nasty customs persons do with all the confiscated confectionary??????

user73 03/20/2007 #

i love bunnies - edible and nonedible - i'm very easy to please and like to be surprised. i'm not allergic to anything except penicillin and too much sun (what kind of hawaiian am i?). in the candy department, i'm partial to dark chocolate (but like milk chocolate too) and gummy candies-especially the part "creamy" kind....i currently am into sock knitting and beading....

raydance 03/21/2007 #

As a Singaporean... I can say that we have peas aplenty here. laughs

VelveteenRabbit 03/21/2007 #

Hmmm... I'm in Canada. You may not want to try sending me chocolate. But anything else bunny-related would be fine. :)

TammyW 03/21/2007 #

I think this will be a lot of fun. I am happy to send to someone in the US or elsewhere. If I can't send chocolate, I will load up on some non-food way - maybe fun stickers, little cool things, whatever fits my person. The outside of my package will most definately be decorated.

As far as I go, I like lots of stuff. If you look at my blog, needtocreate.blogspot.com, you will find that most of what I create is very colorful. Purple is my favorite color, but I like the pastels for Easter as well.

user7076 03/22/2007 #

If you read my profile on my blog (address is in my Swap-bot profile), you will get an idea of what kind of woman I am...a little of this, a little of that and a dash of the other!

Looking forward to the festivities!!

joanandemma 03/22/2007 #

We love all Easter fun. I am joining this one for my daughter (I'm diabetic, :( doesn't that stink!) Emma loves that milk chocolate when she can get it!

drewzel 03/22/2007 #

I love bunnies (I have 3 pet ones!) and anything choccy is acceptable. Blog details in my profile, and all my pics are on Flickr under "drewzel". :)

user6914 03/22/2007 #

Wooohooo, Haremail Returns!

I'm a dark chocolate kinda girl. But I'll eat just about anything, and I like cuddly stuff too. Really, I just like mail of any type! Oh - and I'm Canadian, and happy to mail internationally. (Including to that far-off foreign country, the U.S. of A.!) ;-)

You can find me (Nikki) at transcanadateaparty.blogspot.com :)

FarStarr 03/23/2007 #

You guys are too funny..I had to sign up. My "not so dwarf" dwarf Holland Lop house bunny's name is Cappuccino. Maybe she could penpal with one of Drewzel's bunnies..I am not picky about candy or bunnies. I better get started om my gold plated macaroni bunny sculpture!

Craftycakes 03/23/2007 #

I think the post office is closed on Good Friday. Just a thought....

Coffeelatte 03/23/2007 #

In the US, I don't think Good Friday is a federal holiday, so the post office should be open.

user6604 03/23/2007 #

I dont have a blog yet, but...........I shall run off and get one as soon as I finish writing this! My favorite easter bunny thing is PEEPS, other than that its a toss up between everything! I just plain ole love easter. I am new here and I dont believe anything I have sent has had time to get rated yet!

VelveteenRabbit 03/23/2007 #

Hmmmm... I'm having second thoughts about saying "don't send me chocolate"... Am I NUTS?!?!? Who says "no" to chocolate?! Okay, go ahead and send chocolate or candy or whatever. (Only if you want to, of course. You don't have to. But you may.) :D My one request -- if at all possible, I'd rather not got Easter bunny stuff. I love bunnies and I love Easter but, as a Christian, I don't feel they're related. However, if I'm being too picky... don't worry about it. I don't want to make the swap difficult for my partner. :) Thanks!

ladybug267 03/24/2007 #

Hey, can I join too?? I don't have a blog, a clog, or a dog, but I love bunny rabbits :) I have good ratings, and I am a wonderful person, just ask my mom :) Oh, and I am a dark chocolate person :)

Dibrittain 03/24/2007 #

I am already working on my bunny box. I am like a swapper pack rat. I go out and buy tons of items and put them aside for swaps like this. So I already have a few bunny items ready. My partner is going to have to be a bunny lover. I like Bunncula if you get me. I am in to vampire bunny hee hee. I have 3 kids so Chocolate is fine if you send enough for 3. Happy Bunnies... Di Brittain.

wolfmom2ac 03/24/2007 #

Hey everyone!! I can't wait for the swap to start!! I have just about everything for my bunny box! Just have to wait and see who my partner is so that I can get a few other things! Candy wise: Please don't send coconut if possible other wise that send me anything good! CHOCOLATE is my all time favorite!! Not picky about anything else!! You can check out my photos at flickr to see what I like! I love getting surpirses! Can't wait! Wolfmom!

ellawitch 03/24/2007 #

i love bunnies!!! the only thing i ask not to send is gum. thanks!!

user7127 03/25/2007 #

I'm very excited, I already bought a cute thing for the swap! I forgot to list that I don't like white chocolate, though. To me, it tastes like solid margarine--no insult to those who like it, it's just not my thing. Is there any way to change my signup now?

user6478 03/25/2007 #

hi id love to play but i dont have a clue on flicker and i am i newbe is that ok? i love bunnies and have 2 girls who love chocolate any kind i love fruit chocolate and anything i cnat get over here but im not picky i just love getting mail, i am in the uk and am going to start shopping for my bunny partner tomorow fionax

alex 03/25/2007 #

only thing I would not really be into is a bunny soft toy unless it is a hand made one love shker style things...anything else fine :-)

Zanara 03/26/2007 #

Hey I'm from Canada and I have absolutely no problems receiving chocolate (milk) and seeing as how there is suppose to be a choclate shortage coming I feel a desparate need to stock up :)

Aerochik 03/26/2007 #

Anything bunny works for me!!! I love bunnies!!!

FarStarr 03/26/2007 #

WHAT???? A chocolate shortage??!!!! Say it isn't so...

jewels1 03/26/2007 #

As long as it's not a coffee shortage it's all good . . .

fairykiss 03/27/2007 #

Very cute! I wanted to join this for myself, but chances are it's going to go straight to my little ones :)

No allergies, no dislikes, not picky at all. However, anything handmade would be beyond great (some people have a problem with that sort of thing). I do have a 5 year old boy and 2 year old girl that as mentioned above will most likely steal mommys goodies.

alex 03/28/2007 #

how come we haven't got our partners yet....took mine to work to mail, but wont be able to mail today as I haven't got address? :-(

FarStarr 03/28/2007 #

Polka dot mittens has 3 days to review the participants. Once she's reviewed the list she can hit a button and swap-bot will assign partners. If she hasn't hit that button in 3 days, swap-bot will assign automatically. It gives the hostess time to make sure there isn't anyone who didn't meet the requirements. I've been watching to see my partner too..can't wait!

alex 03/28/2007 #

thanks for that farstarr, never really knew how it worked, never having hosted one myself! there are a lot of participants for this one too...well here's to haremail! have fun y'all!

Ferngoddess 03/28/2007 #

I would say I have ants in my pants waiting to get my swap partner but we are not swaping ants/ aunts. I am so exceited. It is all kinda hare raising.

polkadotmittens 03/28/2007 #

fairykiss 04/ 2/2007 #

Oh I'm so glad! It's not over yet! I am sending out something in the morning I like to call: Operation Haremail- Special Delivery! Oh, what could it be? LOL.

jewels1 04/ 4/2007 #

FarStarr! I want your real bunny, how ADORABLE!

PstLyfDiva, you haremail is on it's way!

FarStarr 04/ 4/2007 #

Jewels, The swap was pretty specific in stating "no live bunnies",..and I wouldn't give up Cappuccino anyway...She was a big help while I was packaging up the box!

jewels1 04/ 5/2007 #

Tee! Hee! Did she add any handmade "presents" of her own to the box?

FarStarr 04/ 5/2007 #

Oh my..you mean "raisins"? No, I don't think so...and I haven't heard from the recipient yet...I recd haremail from Blazenhoff today and uploaded a pic. Thank you!

user5689 04/ 5/2007 #

Jennifer H. My haremail arrived yesterday and it was terrific:) I am already into the candy. LOL! Thanks so much.

cmhatcstamper 04/ 6/2007 #

Coffeelatte, Your haremail went out yesterday and the postal worker got a good chuckle out of the haremail image on the package. I was impressed he noticed as the place was crazy busy. Have a great Easter Everyone! Chris H.

user2320 04/ 6/2007 #

cmhatcstamper, glad you liked it! I just realized today that I'd sent without saying I'd sent. Better that than the other way, I guess.

user7212 04/ 7/2007 #

Mailed mine off yesterday, but it has to clear customs, so it'll take a few days.

jewels1 04/ 7/2007 #

Tee! Hee! I looked in the gallery, I LOVE that goofy bunny on the lipgloss, "your lips are kind ucky", hehehe!

joanandemma 04/ 7/2007 #

alex 04/ 7/2007 #

Coffeelatte 04/ 8/2007 #

cmhatcstamper - Thank you again for the wonderful package. I can see why the postal guy liked that bunny on the box -- very cute. Great tea and images for my collage work!

user7076 04/ 9/2007 #

Jewels -- What a cute package! I loved the intro that came tucked in the bunny's arm. Thank you so much for your wonderfully creative haremail.

jewels1 04/ 9/2007 #

PstLyfDiva~~I'm so glad she made it there alive! I left some airholes in the haremail box so she could breathe. :)

Ferngoddess 04/ 9/2007 #

I got my wonderful haremail package today from Eva Berry from Fineland!!!! It has the coolest things in it and I swear I will get a picture of it before I dive in. Thanks E

jewels1 04/10/2007 #

Tammy sent me an amazing package with things she knew I would love, she spent so much time and effort and amazing artistic talent on this that I wish I could give her a million hearts! I absolutely love it! Thank you!

user688 04/10/2007 #

Woohoo! I got my package from Coffeelatte and it was all so cute! She filled it full of cute bunny things and put it all in a darling bunny bucket with sparkly tissue paper and sprinkled in tons of darling little yellow flowers.

I'm having to fight my kids off, but it's all mine and I'm not sharing! :) Great job! This has been a blast!

user7054 04/10/2007 #

I got a WONDERFUL package, but there was no card included! I think it was from...Sabine? Sabire? In Arizona? It was absolutely wonderful, and I can't thank her enough. So much yummy chocolate, and the bowl with the bunny on the ledge is my favorite thing EVER. Thank you so much!

Ferngoddess 04/10/2007 #

Polka Dot Mittens ( Tammy)

You must do this again and soon. I had so much fun. Memorial Day is coming or the 4th of July. We could all send something that is a part of our childhood Memories or stuff that goes bang. More more more. I don't want to wait a whole year to do this again.

alex 04/10/2007 #

Tammy did you get my parcel yet? you should have I mailed it, as soon as we got our addresses? Warm wishes, Alex

Coffeelatte 04/10/2007 #

Peakastew - Sorry the kids are battling you for ownership. I'm glad you liked that paper -- it was a Dollar Store last minute buy, but it was so sparkly and pretty I couldn't pass it up!

user7141 04/10/2007 #

I'm just checking in to see if Bekah received my package yet. It was mailed on the 5th from Prescott, AZ. This is my very first swap and I didn't realize at the time that we all had a different partner. I thought we traded across to the same person, so I didn't add a note. Poo. I'll know better next time around.

I have yet to get my Haremail, but I'm sure having fun reading about everyone else's goodies!

user6956 04/10/2007 #

Hello to kristinmarcinuak...sorry, my first swap...and I totally forgot to include a little note! I'm so glad you liked everything...enjoy!!

ozrob 04/10/2007 #

I haven't received anything as yet or a message to say that anything has been sent :o(

polkadotmittens 04/11/2007 #

Hey y'all!

Sorry I have been AWOL... I was on a business trip last week and my lousy client gets all in a snit if I do anything besides work while I'm onsite. The nerve of some people!

Anyway... for those of you who haven't gotten your packages yet, PLEASE keep me posted on what's going on with you. I would really like to make sure everybody gets their Haremail, even if we have to chase some people down and beat them with poles.

(I am kidding about the poles.)

(Kind of.)

tammy

VelveteenRabbit 04/11/2007 #

Kathryn, I got your package today. Thanks!

user7141 04/12/2007 #

No haremail package yet!

alex 04/13/2007 #

no package here yet either....

user7127 04/13/2007 #

No package yet. :( And I hope Kat got the one I sent...Fluffy's going to get hungry soon if you don't open the box. (Hope I haven't given anything away with that. This was supposed to be about exchanging rabbits, right?)

FarStarr 04/13/2007 #

Oh no Pencils...I hope you poked holes in the box!

user7212 04/13/2007 #

You're welcome!

ozrob 04/13/2007 #

damn! not happy here! just found out who my partner is, I rated her a 1 because she's still marked 'not sent' why me! :o(

user7086 04/14/2007 #

Alex -- I definitely did send the package via Airmail (Haremail), so I hope it gets there soon! :( Keep me posted, ok?

alex 04/14/2007 #

Thanks Beccara, I am sure it is just the international mail, for some reason over the last few months things seem to have been taking longer, I used to get things from the US in 5 days and if it was global Priority envie in 3! Which was amazing, but just the other day I recevied a Global Priority envelope that had taken 17 days!! which is much longer even than normal airmail usually takes! Don't have a clue whats going on!? Will look forward to receivng it though, and let you know as soon as it arrives. Have a great weekend Y'all! :-)

user7127 04/14/2007 #

Ella--thanks so much for all the loot! How wonderful! What a lot of stuff. I got the package today and didn't realize what it was. I looked at it thinking, "but I haven't bought anything from England..." (I'm getting married in seven weeks and I've been buying a lot of stuff, especially from eBay.) I'm afraid Agatha the Maine Coon has run off with the yellow stuffed bunny, but she seems to be having a fabulous time with it, so I won't take it back. (Now I'm feeling guilty that I didn't put enough in mine, although I did include a large Jacques Torres chocolate bunny...)

Thanks again!

ozrob 04/17/2007 #

I got no package and no reply to my email asking if she is going to send, so I guess I give up now!

alex 04/17/2007 #

Beccarra...you fabulous bunny sender you! Got my super parcel today, fantastic, opened it at work and everyone was super jelous! I did share the eggs though! Wondered what the heck was in the thing with the noise they made..Thank you I really appreciate the effort you went to! Love the marshmallows, very hard to stop at one or two! Thak you again, have a great week, warm wishes, Alex :-)

user7155 04/20/2007 #

Still nothing!

ozrob 04/23/2007 #

can i get an angel? please??

user7155 05/22/2007 #

Got a FABULOUS package from Suzie Peeler. My two year old ripped into the goodies before I could photograph it all! We all had a blast digging through the box. Thanks Suzie!
