Once you receive the email with your swap partner, please make contact within a few days to verify the address and any other pertinent information.

perezeeb 05/16/2006 #

sounds good! do you know if we'll be sending magazines to the same person who will be sending to us, or is it more random than that? looking forward to the swap! :)

justgeorgeaz 05/16/2006 #

I've not done a swap here before but I checked out the FAQs. It says that the person they send to and the person they receive from are not the same.

Also, just found out that you will have log onto Swap-bot to see who your swap partner is. The email is just a reminder.

Still, although it's not required, I think it's a good idea to email the person you will be sending to verify the address, etc., don't you?

perezeeb 05/18/2006 #

yep, on the day after the deadline for joining there will be a new link showing in the box above labeled "see your partners" and it should have the mailing address the person entered when they set up their profiles, as well as URLs to the person's website / blog, etc., if this info. was entered in the profile. i wouldn't mind emailing the person i'm sending to and would like the same in return if not a problem.

Hopefully the participants realize that, according to U.S. Postal Service regulations, they cannot send periodical magazines (the kind with articles AND advertisements) the cheaper "Media" rate ... what was or would be originally mailed "First Class" must be re-mailed as "First Class". Consider the $4.05 Flat rate Priority envelope as an easy option.

user1506 05/29/2006 #

Hi everyone! I just joined, I live in Europe, so just an idea for US swappers sending to foreign partners: try the Global Priority Flat Rate envelope which takes any items that fit into it up to 4 lbs for $9.50. I just got two huge MS Weddings mags from ebay in such an envelope, so it seems perfect for the magazine swap. Just an idea. :)

justgeorgeaz 05/30/2006 #

Thanks for the mailing suggestions Bubba & idared. idared, just wondering how long it took for you to get your magazines. I've been reading horror stories about mail being held up in customs so I was just curious.

user1506 06/ 1/2006 #

With Global Priority, it always arrives within a week maximum, sometimes as few as 2-3 days. I love that. :) With airmail it is 1-2 weeks. Sometimes it gets lost/stolen or severely delayed though... which sucks.

Thank you all for participating in this swap. When complete, I'd like feedback on what you thought of it in the end. Was it what you expected? Did anything surprise you? For example, my package turned out to be 4 lbs., which sort of surprised me. It's just paper! Was it a good experience? Would you do it again?

Thanks for the great swap, Elaine. I'd like to do a magazine swap again in the future. I always have a pile of magazines that I'm never quite sure what to do with. Could donate them to a library booksale or elsewhere but it always seems easier to just toss them. How sad.

Erna 06/13/2006 #

Hi all - got my first parcel of magazines today, June 13 - lovely! thanks, Marian! I am VERY happy with them. They were posted in the U.K. on June 2, so they travelled 11 days to reach me.

I will not sign up for a magazine swap again, because the cost of parcel postage from South Africa is out of all proportion, and there does not seem to be any special "printed matter" rate any more, as there used to be in the past. In the end, I had to send them surface mail, which was still ridiculously expensive. They are going to take a VERY long time to reach my swap partner. Please be patient!

PEREZEEB!

Don't toss your magazines! Schools need them - kids are always looking for pictures to cut out for assignments, articles for reading, all kinds of things! Most charity organizations will collect donations from your home if you call them. I hate the idea of all those lovely glossies ending up on a dump. I understand the effort involved, but once you've broken the ice, you'll be so glad that you've shared them instead of tossing them. As a last resort, tie them up in a neat bundle and leave them on the pavement for somebody to find - just not the garbage bin!

I have a sister who is a teacher and I give them to her for her class and they love them. I als ohomeschool my girls and they have fun making collages out of them, I also have a hard time parting with mags(home,& crafts) even if I donot think that I will make any thing out of them I sometimes find mags that I have had for years and get reinspired by them. as of today June 14 I still have not recieved anything I will post when I do. Also there are a few more mag swaps listed on the site and they are called "Maggy Swaps"

I have had the most fabulous bunch of magazines from my partner Rosa. She sent so many they came in two packages. Fabulous American knitting ones and some lifestyle ones from her area. I would sign up again I think as it is nice to see International mags (I sent to Hungary) Mazzam

user371 06/19/2006 #

I received my magazines and they were great. Celia perez even took the time to ask what I liked and sent me great things that I am really into. Some I am even passionate about. Thanx for this swap I loved it.

perezeeb 06/22/2006 #

I'm glad you liked the magazines, Michelle! ;)

dulcimer 06/22/2006 #

why do the names of swap partners not match up with the list of participants. Its hard to find out the rating of the person who is sending you stuff( its nice to check out their track record )

user1075 06/22/2006 #

I sent mine out on the 15th and I have not seen a response and I was a little worried. I have still not recieved mine and I hope that mine will be here soon

justgeorgeaz 06/23/2006 #

The display names do sometimes make it confusing. That's why I thought it was a good to make contact via email. I appreciate my swap partner emailing me to let me know she received her package too. If you sent something and are curious, email your partner to see if it was received.

If you haven't received your package yet, just remember, international mail does take longer.

Almost all members show sent next to their name. (Although anybody can click the sent link even if they haven't, can't they.) There's that trust issue again.

Received several craft magazine from England--which I love, both England and crafts! Ninethreeo was the best. She even added home-made envelopes for me. Love them! Thanks nine!!

LivingAsRosa 06/27/2006 #

Yes, I would definately do this one again. Loads of fun. Think I enjoyed finding out my partner and sending her stuff as much as I enjoyed receiving my goodies! Love to receive inernational things. Good swap Elaine! Thanks.

user1506 06/27/2006 #

I received the most fabulous magazine package from Mazzam, thank you so much! I was a little late sending out mine, and I notified my swap partner of the delay, so sorry!

I loved the swap, and would love to join another one soon.

user1075 06/27/2006 #

I still didn´t received mine. I´m very unlucky with my swap-bot swaps, most of them I didn´t reveive nothing. I think that i´ll give up of this.

When buying a coffee maker, there are a few things to consider. First, you should consider how much coffee you will be making and how often. If you are making more than a few cups each day, you may want to invest in a higher-end machine. If you’re making only a few cups each day, a low-end machine may be sufficient. https://brewmasterpro.com/best-office-coffee-maker/
