I grew up in Mexico City back in the 50's and 60's - it definately made a big impact on who I am today! I had culture shock in reverse when I moved to Connecticut in 1968 at the age of 15 - very traumatic for me! I have been married for 34 years - I met John in Caracas, Venezuela in 1972, and we got married at 20, very young compared to today's standards! My husband is my "rock" - not perfect, but solid! I have two sons - David (32) and Steven (29). They are married to sisters, Beth & Lauren! I have been blessed with very special sons and daughter-in-law's! I have two incredibly beautiful granddaughters, Kylie (almost 3) and Kelsie (8 mos.)! I love being "Nana" - it is my calling! I worked in sales & merchandising for years, and always had some sort of "jewelry" project going on the side. I did the craft-show circuit for a few years, selling one-of-a-kind brooches made with antique buttons and antique jewelry pieces. I have about a 3-4year span where I am totally into a certain type of jewelty making, and then I move on to something else. I have been a "beader" for 4 years now, making all kinds of unique jewelry. I have sold my pieces at a retail establishment, where I did well, until they closed! I now sell by word of mouth and by having home-shows. But the economy is killing my sales! I love all Mexican arts and crafts, especially hand-painted pottery! I love to garden!, I do organic vegetable gardening in the summer. I love being in the water or on a boat at Lake Martin in Alabama! I love the sun! I love life!
I love making jewelry! Right now I make necklaces, earrings and bracelets with beautiful natural stones, pearls, Swarovski crystals, Czech glass beads, and sterling silver. I have made jewelry for two brides and their wedding party, which I love to do. Having their input, and allowing them to be a part of designing their "very own" and unique design process makes me smile! I love to encourage others to spread their wings and "create"!
Discovery channel, travel channel, home channel, cooking channel, medical programs, All my Children (45 years, and still into it!!!), Survivor, Ugly Betty, What Not To Wear, Grey's Anatomy, Desperate Housewives, So You Think You Can Dance
I love almost all types of music! 60-70's rock, jazz, smooth jazz, salsa & merenge, classical. Love Cat Stevens, Josh Groban, Led Zeppelin, Andrea Boceli, Rod Stewart, etc.
I like reading just about anything, from newspapers to novels, and everything in between! Enjoy Michael Creighton, Stuart Woods, and too many others to mention.I also love to do crossword puzzles - trying to keep my aging brain engaged and working!
I LOVE: My family Sunshine & blue skies!! Sunny, my dog & companion Maya, my cat All birds - I am an avid bird-watcher! (I had a white "albanistic" hummingbird in my yard a few years ago - a very spiritual expecience for me!) Mother nature - trees, plants, flowers, cystals, rocks, clouds, playing in the dirt! Mexican & Cuban food Trying new foods American regional food Gardenias - my, what a heavenly scent!! Magnolia flowers - a slice of "citrus"! My "sister" friends Wind chimes Beads (except plastic & wooden ones) Love driving through the mountains and alongside the ocean!
My favorite scents are citrus, lemongrass, rose, lavender & gardenia.
My favorite colors are in the "warm" arena - terra cota, yellow, red, orange. I also love green (not olive) and blue (not navy). I actually love all colors, but don't wear any pastel colors at all.
I love any good chocolate, except for white chocolate.
For the earring swap - I don't like to wear any jewelry that is made from plastic or "African" style beads. I can only put sterling silver or stainless steel hooks in my ear lobes. I love lampwork beads, semi-precious stones, crystals, pearls, MOP, abalone, Czech beads, stones. I don't wear really long or ornate earrings like I used to when I was younger...age has crept up on me!! :)
