I like to do most anything - sewing, quilting, embroidery, ribbon embroidery, needlefelting, stamping/paper arts, photo crafts, jewelry, basically, you name it! I'm not into knitting or crochet but I do have a knitting machine I'm hoping to set up to make some wool to felt, then sew with.
My style is really all over the place - I love all sorts. I like girly-type things (pink, pastel, ribbon, etc.) but I also like clean and modern lines just as much. I'm not too much into religious, animal, or grunge themes, but in art I feel there's something to be gained from all styles so if you're really called to create one of those, it's fine with me.
I'm a work-at-home mom (I'm Executive Director of a non-profit) who also homeschools her kids because it's fun and allows us to focus on the things we want to (like nature and art). My husband is a designer and between me, him, and the three kids, there is usually a creative project going on somewhere in the house.
I rarely have time to watch programs when they're actually on so I mostly watch what I can find on Hulu or Netflix. I like funny things (The Office, 30 Rock, Arrested Development, Flight of the Concords), most anything on the Food Channel, and creative shows like Project Runway, What Not to Wear, etc.
In addition to crafting, I love to cook, read craft and baking blogs, and exercise. I love all things fitness (except running) - kickboxing, biking, hiking, weights, yoga, and water aerobics (I have taught it for 15 years). My favorite thing to cook is dessert - and the more chocolate the better! : )
I have a good-sized art room (300 square feet) that I use for all my crafting, along with my kids. I just love it when we're all in there crafting together! Our room is a vintage theme, with pink walls and pastel furnishings. I enjoy filling it with vintage items like jars, enamel pans, an old ladder, cake holders, a bread box, etc., all of which I repurpose for holding supplies or displaying art.
The rest of our house is more of a clean, modern theme, and we love the whimsical. Our whole family is not too much into the traditional. We try to embrace creativity and originality in all that we do!

Hi,

You sound very creative :) I wish I was good at DIY stuff, I'd like to see photos of your work one day! :D I love cooking too! I don't have any kids, since I'm only young aha. But it seems like you have a lovely family and a great life :D Happy swapping!
Hi there! I think the only things we have in common is our relative swap-bot newbie status and August birthdays! Happy late birthday by the way, I generally try to milk mine for the entire month of August. That might be part of my Leo-ness. : )
I checked out your blog, and I've gotta say that you're probably the coolest, craftiest mom out there. I laughed so hard at the Barbie Mummy! That is genius. Softie!Obama is also awesome. You've got some really talented kids.
I can see how you and your family probably don't have enough time to watch a lo of TV. A good show that is family friendly is Leverage on TNT -> http://www.tnt.tv/series/leverage/ It's about a group of con people who turn over a new leaf and start helping the little guy. It's a very creative show, funny, and easy to jump into.
Have a happy swap-bot day! : )
Hi Susan! Greetings from Germany :o). I think homeschooling is really a good thing! Here in Germany it isn't allowed though... I'm also a mommy. My son Julian's just 10 months old and at the moment he starts walking. We want a 2nd child in about 2 years. First of all we want to get married in May 2010! Have a nice day! Sissi
