I LOVE to read. I like mystery books with a twist; sometimes a little romance; author Wilbur Smith; Christian fiction. I always read the book before seeing the movie. I like studying the Bible and learning about how and why Jesus died for me and is going to save me from the judgement of God and how I will one day be able to meet Him face to face enveloped in His great love. I like autobiographies and biographies about people. I read books about animals - especially dogs and cats; conspiracies; current events on the religious level; history; Europe - like the history of kings and queens. I am fascinated with the 30's and 40's of the Hitler era. I am at a standstill shocked at how any one person could mesmerize the masses as he did. I do not like anything to do with evil (although Hitler was), astrology, vampires, gore, scary thrillers, and I don't really care for Stephen King type novels. I love to hang out in bookstores and libraries. I am interested in ancient manuscripts, etc. like the Dead Sea Scrolls.
I am 51 yrs old and have a wonderful Christian tall, dark and handsome husband. I have a 27-year-old-son and daughter in law who live upstairs with us. We have 2 8-year-old grandsons and a 2-1/2 yr-old beautiful granddaughter. She is the apple of my eye. She is a girly girl and loves bling and nail polish, makeup, flip flops, and princess necklaces and a purse to carry with her. We have 3 beautiful daughters living in Alaska. I have 2 wonderful tiny Chihauhaus names Tiki 4-3/4 lb and Tiko at 4-1/2 lb. Tiki is white long haired and Tiko is black, tan and white short haired - like a mini mini doberman. We take them everywhere we go. I also have 3 beautiful long-haired orange tabby cats who laze around in the sun all day. Their names are Pester, Autumn, and Carrot. My husband and I are buying our first house together (we have been together since 2004 - so we are newlyweds!!! I can't wait to decorate and remodel the place. I finally get to have a craft/sewing/quilt room all my own. I also do photography with my husband. He has all the great cameras and I have a Nikon 300, which is a nice camera also. He is a lot better than I am though! We photograph weddings all the time. We have so much fun doing it. Weddings are beautiful. The dresses are amazing. I love breathtaking views of the world that the Lord has made. It is amazing how around every curve of the road there is a different aspect of His personality embedded in the scenery around me. I like all things victorian, but no gaudy barogue style for me. Delicate and handmade like lace or stitched pillowcases. I adore old victorian homes. I also like anything medical. I had a medical transcription business back in the 90's and the body is so intricate and amazing. I love bling. Anything with rhinestones, crystals, glitter. I like jewelry, shoes, and purses. Not to hurt anyone, but nothing 'gay' for me. And nothing that smells like smoke. My favorite colors usually fall in the 'cool' range. Purple, blue, green, teal, black/white, and I do like pink, red, and yellow.
I like quite a large area of music. I was in high school in the 70's so of course I like the Steve Miller Band, Bread, Led Zeppilin, Alice Cooper - yes, School's Out Forever, and of course don't forget Aerosmith Toys in the Attic. Then there are the classical instrumentals Bach, Beethoven (sp)?, I like classical guitar (I used to play the classical guitar) and the violin. At one point (a very short point) I played the trumpet. Not me at all. I do like to listen to jazz/saxaphone. I listen to Contemporary Christian music, the old wonderful hymns. But I like to lounge around with my husband on a weekend and listen to his myriad of 40's and 50's songs like Roger Miller's Swiss Maid, Don Ho - Tiny Bubbles, and Don Rondo's White Silver Sands. Oh - and 76 Trombones.
My all time favorite movies are (not in any particular order) The Count of Monte Christo; Schindler's List; Phantom of the Opera, Les Miserables; Something that the Lord Hath Made (a true story about Blue Babies back when there wasn't any cure that could save them); Lonesome Dove; Once Upon a Time in the West; Mama Mia - I loved this movie! Usually any movie with Meryl Streep in it. Devil Wears Prada She's my favorite actress. Driving Miss Daisy; Any true story like Lorenzo's Oil. I like dramas, some action movies, and comedy.
Grey's Anatomy (except for a few situations that I don't agree with - so I skip over); any medical show, including the University of Washington channel that broadcasts their lectures on different medical subjects; CSI; A&E channel. The History Channel. Travel Channel. But, I don't do much TV watching - I would rather read or do crafts - like ATC!!
I love all kinds of crafts. My favorite is crosstich. I once bought about 100 skeins of thread to do a portrait of my niece and was carrying it in my car in a blue bag. Well, we had gone hiking to Franklin Falls and someone smashed the side window and grabbed the bag thinking there would be loads of cash or something of value to them. I wish i could have seen their faces when they opened it up and saw a set of rings with little plastic bags full of thread in all different colors. What a joke on them. I had to laugh and laugh (thank goodness I had just started it and only had a few stitches going on it. Jokes on them! We never did find that bag even though we drove around looking for it tossed in a ditch somewhere for about an hour. I like to take photos of different things in the wild and make cards out of them. I usually try to add one into every one of my swaps, but it is geting a little expensive. Don;t know how long I will be able to do that. I also like to sew anything. I like to quilt although I have just gotten into this realm and it is slow going. Beautiful fabrics and threads - it overwhelms me. I've crocheted and knitted in the past. I have done rubber stamping, and scrapbooking. My favorite thing to do with my grandkids and my step-daughters is to go Letter-Boxing. This is another thing that someone might look into if they are looking for something new and exciting, and gets you outdoors a lot. They love it. Just look up Letter Boxing on the computer. There are directions that explain the whole thing. This is done worldwide also, so if you are on vacation in a different state or country - you can take a letterboxing jaunt and make a memory. UPDATE: Moved into new house and 2 nights later out car got broken into. I had my 3 boxes of craft supplies (papers, scissors, punches, embellishments, 2 photo binders partially filled, etc.) and they got stolen along with our GPS! Lesson learned finally - after 2X getting ripped off I am NEVER going to put my craft stuff in the car! I have to replace all of it. Hopefully, the little bit if stuff I had in the house can get me along for awhile making great ATCs!
I like to go on short trips for 2, 3, or 4 day mini vacations to the ocean or mountains. Especially if there is a lot of snow in the mountains. I like the beautiful trees with snow on them. Also, the size and shape of trees - like curly vine roots or unusual growing patterns. I like the Redwoods, Love to hike to waterfalls. I really like the St. George, Utah area, Bryce Canyon, Zion and Arches Parks. Yellowstone is amazing with every different kind of scenery anyone could ask for. I like the Grand Canyon and Escalante Staircase area. I like hiking down the Chinle, AZ area to the Three Turkeys Indian Ruins. Beautifiul! Ok, I hope this is enough about me.
Likes/dislikes: I like anything to do with my Christian religion. I love bling, vintage, old locks and keys, glass doorknobs, antique furniture, I love love old antique 1700-1930 restored homes, museums, love love castles, chihauhaus, cats and kittens, unusual growing trees, handbags, shoes, jewelry, coins, and stamps (postal). I love all colors except brown. Dislikes: please don't send anything dark. Witches, gargoyles, vampires, skulls (unless it is medical related), magic, spells, anything horror. And nothing to do with homosexuality or transexuals and nudity. (I know a couple of people who struggle with these things, and I see how miserable they are with life - not wanting this struggle.) That's it everybody. Happy swapping!!!!
