About Me

I am an early 40's male from the USA. I am a long time expatriate living abroad in Bangkok where I teach math and English.

This is my latest incarnation as before I was a software developer for many many years.

I like living in a tropical climate. Now I am used to it and it feels like any temperature below 75 degrees Fahrenheit is cold.

Reading is one of my main hobbies. I know my local bookstores like the back of my hand, and constantly am prowling them for interesting books, both fiction and non-fiction. Usually for pleasure, I read science fiction or fantasy.

I also enjoy penpal-ing and I belong to both postcrossing.com and letter-exchange.com.

I am excited to read about the other interesting books readers have read through this swap-bot.

Favorite Books

My favorite books/authors are: Stephen Donaldson's Thomas Covenant Series.

Also, Neal Stephenson's Reamde and Anthem.

I also like The Windup Girl.

Favorite Movies

I am a big fan of David Lynch and Francois Ozon. So almost anything by them is good.

Quentin Tarantino is also a favorite.

Favorite Teas

My tea preferences:

I really like green teas, especially any green Japanese or Chinese.

I don't really care for "black" teas (e.g. oolong, lipton-style).

Herbal teas are OK.

I also like willows -- there are some great lakes and rivers in this area of the US, with lots of opportunities to enjoy native and introduced willows. They make great basket material as well.
