I'm a 50-something free-spirit! I'm a music teacher during the day and I love to sing and play the piano and various folk instruments. I've been happily married for 29 years and have a daughter who's 26 and a son who's 23, both of whom are living in Pittsburgh!
We are a family of cat lovers! We had 6, but daughter took one when she moved and we've lost 2 of them due to age and illness. We also have a water turtle, named Elvis, who's been with us for 15 years.
I love all crafts. My big ones are sewing and knitting. I've done a lot of design work with my sewing. I also enjoy metalwork, beading, paper crafts and woodwork.
I love to cook and bake, but I've stopped baking for our family except on special occasions.
I love fresh fruit (especially berries of all kinds) and vegetables and I tend to eat an organic diet. My food treats include good coffee and tea. I drink lattes mostly and I love unusual teas--preferably loose leaf, but I like bags too. I prefer teas with fruit in them and I prefer black and white teas. I like green tea if it has other flavors added to it. My other edible treat is dark chocolate! I have a little piece every night with my coffee. I like dark chocolate with fruit and/ or nuts especially.
I love all kinds of music except rap and the really twangy country. My taste is very eclectic.
My favorite TV shows are typically those found on HBO: Sex and the City, Six Feet Under, Big Love. I also love Monk, the Closer, Leverage, Boston Legal, Ally McBeal.
I collect vintage Fiestaware, vintage crochet potholders and other kitchen items, scotty dogs, vintage sewing items. I live in an old home (built in the early 1920's) and I like things from that period when it comes to decorating.
I live in the Washington DC suburbs and I guess that has turned me into somewhat of a political junkie as well.
I am a family historian and have spent years researching my family history. So far I am back to the early 1600's.
