I really love just getting letters and postcards. any kind, mail art or not. and I LOVE making and receiving hand made postcards. I don't collect stamps, so don't feel you need to use your extra special stamps on your post to me. (unless you have the new US Solar Eclipse stamps, I would LOVE to get one of those)
Always on the lookout for new long term pen-pals.
I'm a Card carrying LWA member
ohh, so many, I like to knit (especially socks, sweaters and lace shawls), crochet (especially doilies), embroider, cross stitch, spin, weave, tat, sew, quilt, and bind books (I like exposed spine bindings the best, and using recycled/upcycled materials). I also like coloring, drawing, Zentangle, ATCs, and painting with watercolors. I love washi tape and I also dabble in origami and am always on the lookout for interesting origami papers.
I used to teach knitting classes and really enjoyed it, I think if I had the time I would love to do that more often, it is always so fun to spread the knitting love and to watch somebody fall in love with a project or to see something 'click' for somebody who has been struggling.
I'm also a vegetarian cook, and I can count that as a craft right? I love looking up and trying new recipes.
I like to read sci-fi and fantasy, urban fantasy, magical realism, and steampunk as well as the occasional 'supernatural' mystery and I love a good classic mystery a la Dorothy Sayers and Agatha Christie. as well as a bunch of other genres.
a short, random list of other favorite authors:
Neil Gaiman, Terry Pratchett, Ursula Vernon/T. Kinfisher, Patricia C. Wrede, Seanan McGuire/Mira Grant, Anne McCaffrey, R.A. Heinlein, Spider Robinson, Madeline L'Engle, Jane Austen, Robin Hobb, Susan Cooper, Naomi Novik, China Miéville, Ursula K. LeGuin, Cherie Priest, Stephen King
as you can probably guess, I never have enough bookmarks.
I will listen to pretty much anything as long as it isn't gangsta rap, death metal or country.
I especially like classical, Celtic (I'm learning to play the penny whistle), classic rock and 'oldies' (sadly some of the music I grew up with is already playing on the oldies stations, but I really mean stuff from the 40's, 50's, and 60's)
a random assortment of some of my favorite artists:
Billy Joel, Abney Park, Elton John, Bach, They Might be Giants, Hootie and the Blowfish, Dave Matthews Band, Matchbox 20, Train, The Killers, Louis Armstrong, Queen, Panic! at the Disco, Bethoven, Vivaldi, Creature Feature, Emerald Rose, Lunasa, The High Kings, U2, The Dubliners, Enter the Haggis, Me First and the Gimme Gimmes, Areosmith, the Beatles, Tom Petty, The Rolling Stones, Aaron Copland, The Doors, the Mammas & the Papas, Simon & Garfunkle, John Mellencamp, Eric Clapton, Bryan Adams, The Police, Sting, Journey, Pink Floyd, The Beach Boys, Andrew Lloyd Webber, Jonathan Coulton, John Denver, The Chieftains, Gaia Consort/Bone Poet Orchestra, Van Morrison
I don't watch a lot of television, but I love Dr. Who
a small sampling of my favorite movies:
5th Element, Airplane!, Clue, Labyrinth, Mirrormask, Practical Magic, Princess Mononoke, Real Genius, (the original) Star Wars trilogy, The Princess Bride, the Thin Man movies,
I do listen to a lot of podcasts, as I often need something to listen to while crafting, I especially like long running sci-fi/fantasy audio dramas and RPG actual plays with good production values.
Podcasts that I Love:
The Adventure Zone (mostly just TAZ Balance tbh), Caring into the Void, Critical Role (I play the videos in the background, because sometimes you really do gotta see the cool battle maps), The CritShow, The Cryptonaturalist, The Fat Feminist Witch, Friendshipping (RIP best podcast ever), The Hidden Almanac, Old Gods of Appalachia, Open Letters, The Penumbra Podcast, Welcome to Nightvale, Wildly Tarot,
I love playing and running Table top Role playing games, especial indie or lesser known games, (Hasbro can suck it, the capitalistic, money grubbing, Pinkerton using, bastards) I've also worked in the past making illustrations and maps for several indie old school and story type games. here is a list of some of my favorites, both the run and to play: Alice is Missing, Brindlewood Bay, Cairn, Dark Streets and Darker Secrets, Dread, Honey Heist, I'm Sorry, Did You Say Street Magic?, Ironsworn, Lovecraftesque, Macchiato Monsters, Mausritter, Monster of the Week, Runequest, Sharp Swords and Sinister Spells, Swords Without Master, The White Hack, The Witch is Dead, Trashkin, Troika!,
I am slightly obsessed with languages, my native language is English but I also speak Esperanto, know a little ASL and am learning Spanish.
I like to run (5k distance although i'm working my way up to a 10k), do Yoga, hike and go geocaching.
I am lost without my bullet journal/planner and like to keep an Artists/Nature journal, but don't get to draw in it nearly as much as I would like.
favorite animals include the mighty platypus, Basset Hounds, American Eskimos, Corgis, and cats (especially tortoiseshell and orange tabbies) - in fact, I have a beautiful Torbie cat named Esmerelda Weatherwax, and she is awesome.
other favorites: Ursids, mustelids, gastropods, cephalopods, leporids, most other canids, felids, and monotremes, marsupials, sheep, goats and camelids. also vultures, and owls.
I love the colors purple, blue, and teal, pastels and jewel tones are great, but muddy colors really turn me off. favorite patterns are paisley, houndstooth, knit lace and cables.
