My name is Amanda. I'm 26 years old, from central Virginia, USA. I graduated from Longwood University here in VA with a Bachelor of Science in Anthropology in 2009, and have been working as the Office Manager in a child psychologist's office for the past 3 years.
My fiance and I have been together for 5 years, and will be getting married in August of 2013 ... finally!
I enjoy reading, watching television (Pretty Little Liars and American Idol are two of my guilty pleasures), and adventuring. I have 3 cats, one dog, and a bird. I love music, as well, and I am willing to listen to a little of anything. The only thing I really don't enjoy is rap and hardcore metal, etc. Just too harsh for my ears. :)
Here are a few of my favorite things...
QUOTES: I love inspirational, funny, 'make you think' kind of quotes. They are used often in my journaling and/or home decor, depending on how creative I'm feeling.
COLORS: I am really not opposed to any colors, but my eyes tend to gravitate towards oranges, purples, and greens. I also love shades of blue, but prefer deeper and more interesting shades to the typical powder baby-boy blue. Does that make sense? The only color I really don't enjoy is brown, but even that I enjoy when paired well with other colors.
ANIMALS: I adore cats. I try not to be a crazy cat lady, but I do have 3 cats right now, and I love them as if they were my children. They enjoy treats every now and then, and they also love toys to play with if you are into swapping pet things. Otherwise, my favorite 'wild' animals are zebras. I have a collection of zebra-print blankets that I adore, and I also love my zebra-print duct tape. When I was younger I collected teddy bears, so those will always have a special place in my heart as well. And giraffes - I once spent about 5,000 Dave and Busters tokens to buy a 4ft stuffed giraffe. They're just so cute! Haha. Snowmen are my 'animal' of choice for winter time... I am Christian and fairly religious so I love having the nativity scenes for Christmas as well, but snowmen take the cake for wintertime fun.
CHILDREN: I have a 5 (almost 6) year old cousin named Abby who I babysit and spend a lot of time with, who enjoys Tinkerbell and Disney Princess things. She's also really into hunting right now because her daddy is, so she likes camo print things and anything girly and hunting related. Her favorite color is green. I also have a soon to be 2-year old niece (Savannah) who loves dogs. She's a fan of the color pink, but really loves any color. So I can always use little girl themed swap items for them!
INTERESTS: In my spare time I like to read (history, fiction, mystery) and really enjoy delving into ancestry.com to find out about mine/Justin's lineage. I also enjoy outdoor activities: walking, biking, geocaching (though we haven't done this in a year or so... boo!), etc. Justin lives on a chicken farm and it amazes me how much work goes into that... just life in general, and how it varies for people in different situations, is interesting to me.
CANDLES/SCENTS: I looove candles and wax warmers. I'm a fan of floral scents (light and springy ones, not anything too 'heavy'), foody smells (such as vanilla, apple cinnamon, cookies, etc.), and I do have those AirWick sprayers so I constantly am changing out scents in my house. New ones are always welcome :)
I'll try to think of more and keep adding to my profile ... forgive my brevity, it's all because I'm a newbie and rather confused and intrigued by this whole process!
