By day, I work in a plant pathology lab in the capacity of Field/Research assistant on various crops. By night, I let my inner monkey out through writing, crafting (self-taught, master of none), cooking, gardening, being with my lovely family (husband and two pet-pets), and getting outdoors as much as possible.
I have quite eclectic tastes and will give most things a listen; though, I have yet to find much modern country I like or religious pop music. Here's a list of what usually playing: Classical/opera (bel canto, baby), Jazz (older--stride/Storyville/Bebop) Värttinä Andrea Bocelli, Zucchero, Seal, Neko Case, Dead Can Dance, Yoko Kanno, Robert Pollard/GBV, Madredeus, The Gipsy Kings, Gotan Project, Lila Downs, L'arc En Ciel, Gackt, Ray LaMontagne, Motown (Al Green, Four Tops, Marvin Gaye, Aretha Franklin), Hednigarna, Paolo Conte, Azam Ali/Niyaz, The Cure, Björk, and various classic rock/80s music, show tunes, and yadda yadda.
Sabriel, The Secret Garden, Pilgrim at Tinker's Creek, Hero with a Thousand Faces, Jane Eyre, Pride and Prejudice, The Hero and the Crown, The Beekeeper's Apprentice (and all the original Sherlock Holmes stories), all of Lord Dunsany's works, Skellig, The Graveyard Book, Sunshine, and too many poets/myths/folk tales to list.
I generally am between five or six books at any given moment.
Aliens, Lawrence of Arabia, Labyrinth, all Miasaki films, Dreams, 1001 Nights (Amano), Lord of the Rings, Jane Eyre (2011), Victor/Victoria, The Fall, The Magnificent Seven, Amelie, Pan's Labyrinth, and others that my brain won't recall the titles of.
MST3k, Fringe, BSG, Daily Show, Monkey (1979), Star Trek, all David Attenborough documentaries, all Ken Burns documentaries, X-men, various anime, Twilight Zone, and so on.
Knitting, Drawing, Crochet, Quilting. I'm self-taught in all things and have yet to master any but that's okay.
There are many crafts I want to try my paws--sewing clothes, pottery, wood working, and many more.
