It has been a few years since I have been active on this site. My daughter and I have visited Europe twice since my last update and we traveled with my son to Ireland for Halloween. We
I am a mother, artist, teacher, baker and lover of nature. I enjoy painting, drawing, ceramics and a host of other mediums. I am an Artstronaut (thank you Teesha Moore) and I am a life long learner. I meditate and practice love. I enjoy hiking and I'm surrounded by rolling hills and eastern mountains. I enjoy spending time in the summer on the lakes and rivers in this "land between the lakes." So much fun in this area!
Minerva is an Etruscan Goddess of Arts, Crafts, Strategy and Wisdom, Healing and Teaching. Her spirit animal is the owl. You may see owls lurking in and on my swaps and this is the reason why! (And NO, I don't have a pet owl, this is just an illustration of my dream pet, I apologize for any confusion.)
!
I am currently reading "The Five Lessons". I have two books on order that deal with teaching creativity in the classroom. I enjoy books that teach me how to change the way I think about everyday things. These books will help me to look at teaching in new and innovative ways.
I recently finished Who Moved My Cheese. It's a great motivational book that is a very quick read and it helped me to remember that the only constant is change. I may as well embrace it! I recently read the Great Human Potential by Tom Kenyon and Wendy Kennedy. One of my favorite series is The Celestine Prophecy. I currently teach high school art and this week I am studying the Kiawaii Culture. I'm sure to see a lot of great work from my students because of the current topic. They are crazed over the Japanese culture.
UPDATE: I'm teaching 3D AP Art next year and we are working on 3D art in class this semester. Currently I am making a wire art sculpture of a butterfly. I am having a blast making this 3D form out of wire, glass, metal, wire form screen and vintage cord. I'm stretching my creative muscles on this one!
An oldie but goodie.....Dead Again. Another favorite is What Dreams May Come, I believe it is a MUST SEE. I also enjoy science fiction, comedy and dramas. I am a huge fan of Tim Burton films. I do a unit on him in my Art I classes.
I am usually in bed by 10 and normally I don't sit down until 8 or 9, so the list is not that long: We are currently watching The 100. It's so intense and it may be making me a little angry. If you've seen it you understand what I'm saying. I am also slowing watching The Designated Survivor. I love Keiffer Southerland and this is a great series. I also enjoy watching documentaries about aliens, spiritual practices and artists. Most off days the TV isn't on until night. I love being outside and that's where I usually am WITHOUT my cell phone, much to my son's dismay!
If I'm "crafting" I enjoy calligraphy. I also like making tintures, creams and salves using essential oils or herbs that I grow in my herb garden. I also diffuse essential oils on a daily basis and I have a large collection of oils that I am adding to on a monthly basis. I believe there is healing properties in essential oils. I enjoy canning and making jams. I think I may need 1oo more years to feel like I have scratched the surface of what I would like to do in this life. I love to draw and paint. I also enjoy ceramics and photography. (I have a degree in photography from the ancient days.)

I like almost every color but I seem to be attracted to mostly jewel toned hues with a pop of a bright, neon-ish hue. I wear A LOT of black, so says my husband, but school colors are black, smoke gray and crimson. My closet is filled with these colors after 20 years of teaching at the same school.

PS: Love your profile Owl GIFs!!! So cute! I want one!!! Wonder if an owl raised as a baby would not eat my sweet Quaker Monk Parrot, Eddie, when he grows up. Hmmmm, it's possible!
Thank you for the intriguing letter & washi samples / stickers from TNW group's June WTA! I loved learning about your WA, D.C. trip and sharing information about Andy Goldsworthy! Indeed, I am going to google him and learn more about his artwork. Sounds fascinating! Love the decorated envie, too!!!
