Hello from Kansas! I'm a retired nurse & Nanna to 6 grandchildren. I'm blessed to be able to spend a lot of time quilting. I love anything vintage. I enjoy hand piecing and hand quilting whenever I can. My other passion is bible art journaling. I spend a lot of time searching for stickers, borders, stamps, & other art supplies. I never considered myself much of an artist, but quilting is giving me confidence to step out of my comfort zone. My favorite quilts are traditional. I almost have completed Lori Holt's 'Farm Girl Vintage ' quilt done in reproduction fabrics. I love anything by Lori Holt. Her patterns, fabrics, etc. I can't wait to meet my swap partner.
For entertainment, I watch ( or listen while sewing) to a lot of TV. My favorite would be old movies such as those on Turner Classic Movies. Lately I've discovers Netflix. When I'm not quilting, I stay busy being involved in my community. I attend Lions Club, assist with leading a grief support group, leads a women's bible study, and belong to two sewing/quilting groups. The group at church recently made gifts to go in shoeboxes to be sent to an orphanage. The other group just completed 150 lap robes for the local Veterans Home. I've also made several 'Quilts of Valor'.
I live with my 84 year old mother. She's beginning to need a little assistance with meds & meals. I am mostly retired, but have a part time job. I work 20-30 hours a month for a sheltered workshop for developmentally disabled adults. I do a medication training once a month, and monitor documentation weekly. It's a perfect job.
