If I didn't care for fun and such,
I'd probably amount to much.
But I shall stay the way I am,
Because I do not give a damn.
--Dorothy Parker
I'm Alyssa and I'm lucky to be blessed with great family, wonderful friends and the best husband in the world, when I don't want to strangle him.
I'm a Texan and a military brat and a grad student and a former theatre kid who still dabbles occasionally. Arthur Miller, Cary Grant, Katharine Hepburn and old Hollywood make me swoon.
I'm a tree-hugging, LGBT-supporting, hippie liberal from a red state and a military family, married to an Aggie cowboy with a big ol' truck. (Yeah, I'm confused as to how that works too. )
I love creating and I wish I had the talent and the time to do more.
Patty Griffin, Mindy Smith, Regina Spektor, Sarah McLachlan, Toadies, Marc Broussard, Amos Lee, Rilo Kiley, Alicia Keys
Dresden FIiles, The Hollows series by Kim Harrison, "The Thirteen Tale", "The Mercy of Thin Air"
It Happened One Night, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, Philadelphia Story
Dr. Who (10th doctor!), Venture Brothers, Dead Like Me, Eureka, West Wing, Star Trek: The Next Generation, NCIS, Dexter, Pushing Daisies, The Colbert Report, Robot Chicken, Rob & Big, Big Bang Theory
And if we're really being honest here, Toddlers and Tiaras. (I KNOW, I know...)
I'm very much into sewing, embroidery and needlepoint right now, but I'm also a confirmed paper slut. (Paper Source is my downfall.)
Mostly I have been doing dresses for Little Dresses for Africa and using patterns from Urban Threads to make gifts.
Honestly, I'm kinda okay at a lot of crafts, but my goal is to get really skilled in at least one.
Unless you count "crafts I can't mess up." I'm EXCELLENT at those. :-)
I'm regular commenter on A Practical Wedding and a tester on We Heart This.
And because I fancy myself Suzy Homemaker, I regularly visit Smitten Kitchen and Not So Humble Pie. Their pictures alone make me want to crawl through the computer screen and demand that they adopt me.

I love theatre! Although I am challenged in that area and scared to be on stage, my freshman daughter is a natural. I love the whole atmosphere of it, and how it can just draw you in to the story. I think highly of you and her for doing what you love! It's wonderful :) Trina M.
