I'm a part time college student, looking for ways to connect with people. I like to read, I'm a writer, psychology is my passion (and my major) and of course, my cat Iris is the light of my life.
Blues and purples and jewel tones.
I love to knit. Currently I'm working on a long term project of a blanket. I also like to make jewlery (simple stuff). I love stickers and buttons and shiny things.
Michaels! and any used book store.
I spend a lot of time reading (anything I can get my hands on, especially a good mystery novel), working on my stories (mostly general fiction), doing odds and ends crafts and knitting. In the past few years I've spent more and more time trying to connect with people over the internet as my social life has dwindled.
Iris is my foster cat and the light of my life. I took her home from the cat rescue I volunteer at because she was being beaten up by the other cats. For a number of reasons she is “less adoptable†and needed a semi-permanent home. She came to the rescue as a mother with a litter of kittens (all of whom have been adopted). Iris has become my baby girl. When she first came to me, Iris was a scaredy-cat and she spent most of her time hiding behind the toilet with her furry bottom sticking out earning her the name Ms. Iris Fluffybottom. She is shy, at least around new people. But loves to hear people talking. She lives in my studio apartment with me and I’ll be across the room with music on or talking to someone and she randomly starts purring. Over the last year that I’ve had her she’s really warmed up to me and lets me hold her and pet her. She's a great comfort and a wonderful companion. She likes to lay in her cat tree and stick her head out of one of the hidey-holes so she can watch me.
I have a number of medical conditions, but the two biggest concerns are aphonia and fibromyalgia. Fibromyalgia is a chronic pain condition. It fluctuates but there are times when all I can do is lie in bed and cry and there are never times when I'm completely pain-free. Aphonia basically means that I have speech problems (one of the reasons I have taken to the internet). My voice will disappear for an hour or more at a time and I simply cannot speak. The doctors don't know why. Even when I can speak it's often with a stutter and I struggle to find the right words. So my cat is my best friend because she never judges me and doesn't care how I talk or how much I can do as long as I get up once a day to feed her.
