I am a 27 year old living in Kansas City. I have been married for 5 years, and my husband and I are just starting the adoption process. We are hoping to adopt domestically.
I am a chemist by trade, and am, admittedly, a bit of a nerd. I love math and science related jokes, stories, crafty-things, etc. Science works out well for me because I am very much a linear, logical thinker. I think I enjoy crafting as a chance to exercise the other half of my brain (although if you think there's no creativity involved in scientific research, you are definitely wrong).
I am also a Christian. I respect everyone's right to believe what they wish, but I have yet to find a worldview that better explains why the world is the way it is. I probably don't fit a lot of common Christian steroetypes, but being a Christian impacts how I view everything else in my life.
My favorite craft is knitting. I love that its something I can do while I'm watching TV, in the car, or in a waiting room. My favorite thing to knit is socks, but I will knit almost anything I think will be useful.
I'm not sure if this fits more into "Favorite Craft" or "General Likes", but I really enjoy cooking. My husband and I often cook together, and we are always looking for new recipes to try, but nothing too exotic. Unfortunately, he doesn't like anything too "weird" and won't eat many vegetables besides corn. My favorite dishes are Italian. I think I could eat pasta every night of the week.
I recently "inherited" my mother-in-law's sewing machine and am getting into sewing. I'm branching out to try new things and would consider myself moderately proficient. I enjoy projects that are useful and help me save money.
I also know how to crochet, but I don't tend to spend much time doing that.
I like autumnal and earthy colors (for home and clothes, but if you asked me, I would say purple is my favorite color) Spring time, quirky/kitchy things, chocolate, tulips, math-y and science-y things, kitchen gadgets, hot tea except for herbal tea, hot chocolate, functional but pretty things, handmade things, things to keep me warm, NPR, the Kansas City Royals (even though they are one of the worst baseball teams around), baking bread, finding simple things I can do that are good for the environment, gummy candies, and Sudoku.
I am not a big fan of things that are floral, country style decor, bath products, poor grammar, sports, novelty yarns, or mingling with a bunch of people I don't know (I am an introvert). Although I like being feminine every once in a while, I'm not a big girlie girl. I don't spend a lot of time on my hair, clothes, or makeup.
I am a huge Office fan. I also like the Big Bang Theory and all of the Saturday PBS shows (cooking, home improvement, crafts, etc.) I don't have cable, but whenever I I'm in a place that does, I hope to catch Alton Brown's show on the Food Network. It combines science, food, and quirkiness-no wonder I love it.
Pride and Prejudice is my all time favorite, hands down. I have read it more times than I can count and own the 5 hour movie version on DVD.
I also like the rest of Jane Austen's books, cookbooks, classic literature, crafty books, and Christian non-fiction.

Hi Becky, Happy New Year. I am your scarf partner, I tried to e-mail you but could not for some reason. The problem is on my end, not yours. What color/color scheme scarf would you like and what length would you like? Please let me know. I hope you enjoy your scarf as much as I will enjoy making it for you. Debbie/shabbygirl
