Description:

This is for anyone who has heard of a craft(crocheting, ATCs, Dotee Dolls, Sculpey, Beading, Inchies, scrapbooking, knitting, cross-stitch, watercolor, sewing, cardmaking, etc.) and wanted to try it, or wants to try a new technique for something(Fabric inchies, Watercolor ATCs, etc.) or maybe you did it awhile ago and want to try it again, or just would like more supplies in the form of a kit. Whatever your reason, this is for you.

So what to do; Post here 3 or more new crafts/techniques which you are interested in trying out. When you get your partner look at what they want to try and make a kit for them, then send it off.

Ideas of what a kit might contain:

Beading Kit-A couple big beads, a handful of small beads, 2 earring hooks, 2 clasps, string, jewelry box

ATC Kit- ATC Blank, a background or two, some embelishments, a rubber stamp, a inkpad, a card sleeve

I hope that gives you some ideas. I am making this international because i am sure there are people everywhere who want to try new crafts. I hate to put a minimum on this but i will so its a $5 minimum before shipping. If you get items you have had for awhile or are parts of a set use your instincts about how much they are worth. Just try to make it a really nice and useful package!

Fine Print: If you have been in swaps before you should have a rating of at least 4.75. If you are new have a filled out profile and i will accept using discretion. I will angel this swap if need be but hopefully that wont be necessary!

I love the idea of this!!!

Scrapbooking

Altered books (I have masking fluid and have a fairly decent book section in the local charity shop, but am stumped as to where to go from here!) Or making books from scratch.

Wood carving or burning (don't know how feasible this is in terms of tools...)

Stamp-making

Patchwork or Fabric Collage (I do have needles, thread and an old sewing machine)

Fabric Inchies

Altering clothes

Art Doll making

Feel free to contact me if you've an idea I haven't included, I'll let you know if I'm already inundated with stuff for it! ;) I do a lot of crafts but love to learn new things, I think I've listed everything I do on my profile.

mazzlestar 01/24/2009 #

Awesome Idea! I'd like to try any of these:

  • Dotee dolls (I must be the only person on swap-bot who doesn't really know what they are!)

  • Bookbinding/altered books

  • Quilting (I have a sewing machine, just not sure where to go from here)

  • Rubber stamping

  • Crochet (I knit already)

  • Felting

I love learning new things, so if you can think of something exciting or that you think I might like that isn't included, send me a message or an email and I'll let you know what I think :)

Miller974 01/24/2009 #

This is hard. I love most crafts so below are just some that pop into mind but I am really open to anything. I really have all I can use for my knitting stuff so please no knitting needles etc.

something completely new and not what everyone is doing

metal clay (do polymer clay so have those tools etc but I've been meaning to look at the metal clay)

handmande or altered journals (bought a bunch to alter once, now what?)

embossing (have a heat gun, ink, embossing powder, now what?)

woodburning (I have a woodburner and tips, now what?)

Mello 01/25/2009 #

Sorry to post again, there is so many stuff I'd love to learn! Found some new ideas, so I'm adding:

  • Spinning

  • Glassmarble magnets
