Welcome Lime and Violet MB'ers!

This is the first Magic Yarn Ball to be hosted exclusively for the Lime N Violet message board community. I know many of you may be new to Swap-Bot, so I will make my instructions as step by step as possible.

Pre-Instructions: 1) Create a Swap-Bot identity and fill out your 'profile' - This will be used by your partner to find out your likes, dislikes, yarn preferences, allergies, etc. 2) Click 'Signup for this swap' 3) Drop me a PM or Swap-Bot message letting me know you are from the Swap-bot name and your LnV MB name. (I will not hand this out to anyone, but use it incase someone gets sick or is unable to continue.) 4) Lastly, we need to wait until close to the end of the LnV Yarn P'rn swap to finish. We want to be courteous to our fellow MB'ers who may want to participate in our Magic Yarn Ball Swap. - AMMENDED - This swap will slighly overlap the end of the LnV Yarn P'rn Swap by a week.

Day of Getting our Swappies: 1) Return to the swap link and click 'See the partners you send to' button, this will give you your partner's information. 2) Please take a look at their profile to find out more about them. You may even want to email them to verify their address or read their blog. 3) Remember you will be sending an email to your partner and receiving an email from the person who has 'you'. 4) Please answer your partner's promptly. If you are like me, you will be chopping to get shopping, or have already started a goody pile.

Shopping: Your items do not have to be knitting related for this swap, simply things you think you can hide in your MYB. Heck, even if they don't fit completely you can still wrap them inside the ball somehow. SPECIAL NOTE: Since we are 'rewinding' the yarn, please do not forget to include the yarn wrapper in the ball, so your partner will know the care instructions/yardage/content etc.

List of possible ideas... lip balm, make up, nail polish, stitch markers, wool wash samplers, ribbons, tape measure, those tiny perfume samples the dept stores give you, candy, craft stamps, costume jewelry, tiny beanie babies, felting needles, small journals, post-its, beads, stickers, fimo clay, etc.

Sending your items: 1) You can send your items as soon as you feel your Magic Yarn Ball is complete. 'Receiver Swappies' please post to your 'sender' via an email or as a comment below when you receive your items. 2) Once you post your item return to this listing and click 'SENT'.

Receiving your items: 1) Once you have received your Magic Yarn Ball you can email your partner and let them know it arrived or post it in the Discussion area below. 2) Take a picture of your MYB and submit it to the Swap-Bot Flicker Group or the LnV MB.

SEVEN days after the swap deadline: On the seventh or eighth day of the swap deadline passing, you will have the option to RATE your partner. 1) Click the 'Rate the swap partners who sent you stuff ' button

0 I got my stuff and it met posted swap requirements. 0 This was an extra special package. Give a heart! 0 I got my stuff, but it didn't meet the posted swap requirements. 0 I never got anything. 0 I do not wish to rate (partner) at this time.

Oh ya! The lumpier the better. Remember it will not be a perfect round ball. Take some liberties and have lots of fun! I had a lot of stuff I just did not stuff in it, but left it inside the box.

Q. Does it have to be sock yarn? A. No, it does not have to be sock yarn.

I posted a poll under Suggestions and Comments, and so far there are 25 for sock yarn and 2 for 'other' yarn.

The BEST thing to do is 'contact' your partner and ask them if they prefer one or the other. You can ask them if they like a particular color or are allergic to something.

I like to be surprised myself. So whatever is sent I will love! But that is just me.

I'm having fantasies about doing this with some of my handspun. I just need to conduct an informal poll to find out if it's good enough to give to anyone... I'd hate to ruin someone's surprise with bad handspun.

Too late for me to be secret. I saw the e-mail for this before the posting on the L&V site that some folks wanted it to be secret. According to Wierdlings post on the messageboard, it is your choice.

Well, I got the yarn today for my swap partner- I already have all the goodies to wrap up inside it.

Since I'm in the UK, and my swap partner is in the US, it kinda had to be Colinette Jitterbug, didn't it? After all, from what I gather, it's much harder to come by out there and the colours are GORGEOUS.

Just in case my Secret Pal has worked out who I am, I won't tell you the colourway she's getting, though.

Hey! I just wanted to let everyone know (after realizing too late) that it's MUCH easier to wind an MYB with an already wound ball! It was a pain fighting to wind this ball from a skein, even with a swift!! And it's amazing what a skein of sock yarn will hold! I got my package into the mail today (and what a line at the PO, too!) so I'll post a pic of the lump once I find the camera cable!

Swap-Bot has its own 'flicker' that it uses for each swap. Up at the top of this form, you see - As a member of this swap you can: <--- under this there is an option to upload a picture.

Most people have been posting them to the LnV MB under one of the two discussions for the MYB. One is in Suggestions/Comments and the other is in the SnB section.
