This is the swap for the European region. For the American swap see: Spring Egg USA

By now we can start to see an end to winter even if the weather still hasn't relented and spring is peering out from around the corner. One of the surest signs of spring and ubiqiutous in many traditions is eggs. So for this swap you will be decorating an egg in a spring-y manner and stuffing it with goodies for your partner. You will have one partner and this is an international swap. It should be possible to make the egg and stuff it with things that doesn't make it too heavy to make it cost prohibitive to ship.

You can either buy a cardboard or plastic egg to decorate or make your own with a small balloon and paper maché or something like that. The size should be about 10 cm (4 inches) minimum lengthwise.

Decoration could be decoupage, painting, covering it with fabric, glitter, glued on embellishments and so on. There's quite a lot of inspiration out there on the wide internet, so go looking for something you like. The sky's the limit!

For the egg in the picture, which was made by the lovely LadyBathory, here is a tutorial: Dragon's egg

The filling could be chocolate, tea, seeds for plants you think belongs in a witch' garden/window sill, spells and rituals, bunnies, butterflies, recipes. Check your partners profile for ideas and make sure you send something they will love. Make sure you put in at least 5 items, preferably different items to shake it up a bit.

So to recap:

Buy or make an egg about 10 cm (4 inches) long at least. Decorate it and fill it with at least 5 items your partner will like.

For those of us in the USA what is 10cm in Inches? According to google it's about 4 inches :)

JasNemi 02/ 2/2014 #

That sounds about right. As far as I know 1 inch is about 2,5 cm and 10/2,5 is 4 inches sounds good. I'll remember to put inches on next time I put up a swap with measurements :D

Wow...this is seriously an adorable swap. :)

I was wondering, though, is it correct that there is only 2 days between assigning partners and shipping the egg? The reason I ask is because I usually need a week or two to get to the store to be able to look at my partner's profile and determine what they would like and then go shopping for it.

NO! Total brain fart on my part, sorry! I've changed it to the correct date now, there's a month to make the egg and send it. Thanks for pointing it out!

Awesome-signing up now...

I wish international package shipping wasn't so expensive. A first class international package of just 1-2oz is over $6 to Denmark from the USA and 3-4oz is almost $10 :( Just for a small little item. I really wanted to join this one but the possible shipping charges if swap-bot assigns me someone out of the USA is just something I cannot afford. I guess I'll have to stick to the flats/PC swaps and non mailing ones for now.

@Lanie I understand your pain! I am not limiting myself to one international package every month or so. I spent $25 for two boxes last month and almost $17 for an envelope which just contained candy, a notebook and a couple of small items.

That's crazy, wow. IDK, maybe someone might want to do a one on one of this with me who is in the USA?? After looking at the tutorial I really want to make one. :)

I'm thinkin' Laine should be an officer. She can host this swap in the USA AND the goddess ATC she mentioned in the swap suggestion thread. =D
