I taught myself to sew, knit, quilt, embroider, can & make jam.
"I didn’t have a grandma who like, left me a trunk full of shit. I always wanted to leave that trunk full of shit for someone else, you know?" - Kathleen Hanna of Bikini Kill.
Kathleen's sentiments are much my own, I didn't have a feminine role model or influence. Or someone to pass on their passion, or lifetime of possessions. I think this is why I am so interested in vintage & antiques, why I taught myself all the 'domestic' and traditional crafts, why I find femininity so remarkable. (Not in a caked on makeup & gold jewelery sort of way, but in a soft natural way.) And to bring us more to the point, its a huge reason why I enjoy swapping. I love to share, I love surprises, I love to feel a connection to other people & places.
I'm certainly not a traditional minded person, but I respect & admire traditional methods of making. It is important to me, when I sit down to hand quilt, I know that men & women have been sewing by hand for tens of thousands of years. Its a humbling thought.
I love sewing, quilting, knitting & photography. Fav color = green, I enjoy 70s & 80s horror movies, Star Trek, playing Nintendo, going to the zoo, Thrift & antique stores, & I don't eat meat!
I'm currently working on quilts for friends who are either getting married or having babies! I'm also hoping to get back into knitting dolls this fall.
I sell handmade items & vintage finds, please feel free to check out my etsy so you can see I am a reliable shipper & the favs shows you my aesthetic.
The blog link is my personal photo journal blog -I have a tutorial for a T-shirt quilt & many other daily tidbits, on an outdated maker blog.
It makes me very happy to use the photo blog, as photography is very important to me.
I'm usually interested in personal swaps - so just send me a message.
I'd rather not receive any of these kinds of items (please!!!!);
Halloween themed things!
ANYTHING with Glitter!
ATC - I mean no offense, but I passionately hate ATCs... (& other paper crafts)
tie-dye fabric
tea
stickers
book marks (of any kind)
scrap booking
embroidery floss (I have way too much)
"Inspirational" themed items
paper craft supplies
ANY religious agenda
ANY political agenda
things made from popsicle sticks, glitter, construction paper & googly eyes (I.E. something my nieces would make in grade school) =D
children's items (I don't have kids!)
items found in your junk drawer or kids desk drawer
Romance novels
Pet related items
yarn (unless it is specifically a yarn related swap!)
no holiday themed items, unless its an X-mas swap - and if so I do like vintage kitch old 60s 70s 80s Christmas. But NOT religious Christmas, please keep it to santa, rudolph, frosty & things like that!
Hope this doesn't sound harsh - but I've received these types of things before in swaps that I'd put a lot into & I don't want/need/like all of the above! I would hope we all want to get well made, thoughtful packages.
I don't do paper crafts (so if its a craft supply swap, I don't need those!)
And last but not least, I do like some jewelery, but am allergic to anything that isn't stainless steel or pure silver. =/
Film! -- 120mm or 35mm old & expired or fresh new! (I can't stress this enough! Film is ALWAYS welcome!)
Pretty pretty please, if you see super cheap film at a yard sale or you have some I'd love to swap for it!!
anything with the Minolta logo on it (coffee mug, strap, key chain, etc)
embroidery & quilting needles
kawaii fabric or hair pins (but not stationary stuff)
wooden buttons (as in sewing buttons)
Star Trek items (I can't stress Star Trek enough! All of the series!)
Sewing notions
ribbon
batting for quilted items
sewing/quilt thread
vintage playboy magazines
vintage sewing magazines
B-horror movies from 60s & 70s & 80s, (b-movie posters, films, fabric, ads), BOLLYWOOD!(Specifically 80s bollywood horror movies)
Old or new - vintage/kitch/neat sunglasses
Japanese fabric
kitchy vintage anything from (pretty much any other country)
solid color (not batiks) fabric
vintage womens clothing patterns - Size 18-20
And an etsy Favs link - just to give you an idea of my aesthetics =D -- I hope it helps to see things I would buy myself!

Thank you so much for the lovely FQ in the FAD Tag! It's going into my collection for an autumn leaf quilt. :-)
Thanks for the lovely pictures from the tag! They'll be put to good use making my room prettier :)
Ok, I gotta ask. What do you do with expired film?
Made it to the Toledo Zoo this week - it was fantastic!! We loved it!
If you would like to do a private swap for an embroidered or quilted sumthin' sumthin', let me know! Maybe a fabric postcard? I love hand sewing, and it sounds like you do, too. :-)
Welcome to swapbot!
