In lieu of myriad words, let me sum up: Christ-follower, wife, mom, friend, teacher, who spins, knits, crafts, arts, enjoys, loves, lives, & adventures.
Paper is my first craft love - everything to do with it from folding, cutting, coloring, inchies, atcs, cards, stamps, paint, pencils, to journals and everything else in between, around, or nearby.
Yarn and anything related. I like making my own from raw processing forward. I firmly believe there are no "bad yarns" but not every yarn is suited to every project!
Spinning & knitting are my most productive crafts, and most taught. I also love and teach tatting - the ancient form of lace-making with knots, not inking into skin (;
Un-school is probably a better descriptive word for us although we definitely everywhere-school. i can't attest to the process for just anyone, but it works for us!
I have a curious, kind, adventurous, interesting, witty 10 year old daughter who is a gifted artist. She encouraged me to get back into swapping again after a long hiatus (moving, etc). i used to swap often on ravelry.
Allergies: Flax seed & mango. Soy sensitivity – not an allergy, but I have to watch intake.
I love coffee and tea.
Dark strong coffee is preference, but I can find a way or reason to enjoy almost any kind type. The actual way I like it depends on where, how, why and accompaniments.
My mother was a purveyor of loose teas when I was young, so I have partaken more than my share of tea as an American (; Long before Captain Picard uttered the magic words, Earl Grey was my favorite brew – but he instantly became my favorite because of them. Fruits are limited to berries with spices more a preference.
Books & Print
Generally speaking i prefer complicated stories. As a Christian I value deeply the Bible for study. For entertainment and additional edification I like Toliken, C.S.Lewis plus titles including: Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy, John Carter collection & other classic sci-fi, The Loom, International short story collections and so many more, haha!
Movies & Television
I will give a whirl to anything sci-fi and enjoy action/ thriller / drama most. Abbreviated lists of some of my top picks:
Favorite Flicks: The Truman Show, 50 First Dates, LoTR, The Hobbit, Groundhog Day, 12 Monkeys
TV Indulgences: Crossing Lines, Law & Order: CI, Psych, Criminal Minds, Ruby Gloom, Adventure Time
Music & Theater
I prefer to support indie artists of all types. Music is best live and some of the best productions i've ever seen were free in a park. The radio station I listen to most is local and plays a lot of area/ regional artists. I also enjoy various genres of Christian music including Building 429, Skillet, Chris Rice, Sidewalk Prophets, & more.
Our family enjoys Kentucky Shakespeare’s free park productions as often as possible. We also have a very active parks department in Louisville that keeps us full of opportunities.
Other
Visiting the zoo several times a month is a must. We involve various studies from map making to specific animals and report writing to name a few. Feeding the Lorikeets has to be our #1 zoo activity by far.
Our city has a lot of great parks and we like to visit many of them for walking and general play as well as special events.
Vintage, historic and ancient are as much fun as new, contemporary, modern.
I equally like bold dramatic colors and monochromatics.
i have a deep appreciation and rawther high tolerance for pure nonsense.
