Hmm...I never really know what to say in "About Me" sections. What do people want to know?
First, I live in the Grand 'ole USA.
My two main passions are travel and music. I am in a constant search of a way to get paid to travel the world. I often watch the travel channel and wonder how these people got to be on TV. I could totally do what they do, I'd do it for free as long as they paid the way. I always plan to apply for the Amazing Race, but whenever I think of it and look for the application, the deadline has passed. Someday I will time it right :)
Other passions include: cooking, camping, canoing, spending time with my family, photography, sewing (though I am teaching myself and am not very good), learning to knit (if I could just master casting on, I think I would be okay), learning new crafts...
If I won the lottery, I would first take a trip to Cambodia (although I have a recent obsession with CHINA) and then make a few stops on the way back home. I would take random classes about things that were interesting to me...not for a degree but for self-knowledge. I would probably start an animal welfare group or donate time and money to an existing one. Oh yeah, I have been vegetarian for about 16 years which is just over half my life.
A few years ago I spent about 5 weeks in Istanbul and have a passion for all things Turkish. I did not end up getting many pictures (only a few turned out...this was pre-digital camera), so any photos of Istanbul are at the top of my list as far as any art projects go.
I live in an old farmhouse (built in 1875) with my boyfriend...actually no...he is now my husband-to-be (He proposed in Amsterdam a short while ago. I hate the "f" word, so I still think of him as my boyfriend) and my grey cat Zoe.
Oh...one more thing: I am horrible at spelling. I apologize in advance.
If you looked through my i-pod you would find all kinds of music: phish, peter rowan, john denver, johnny cash, radiohead, keller williams, the grateful dead, sunny day real estate, the beatles (of course), steven massey, jeff buckley, omar faruk tekbilek...I hate to label anything as "favorite" because it can change daily.
Likes and Dislikes
I love all shades of green but hate red, orange and yellow. Brown is good to. I like to look at purple, but not to wear it. I really do not like cute, girly things and hate hearts except for the real ones. However, I do like daisies, fairies and butterflies and anything relating to Phish, the Grateful Dead and things from the scene.
I don't really get into cartoon characters, but I do like Nightmare Before Christmas. My bathroom is decorated with Jack, Sally, Shock, Lock...I also dig Fraggle Rock and anything Tim Burton.
I love earthy scents and my favorite scent is Tramp shower gel from LUSH. I also like patchouli and sandalwood and all that other hippie crap (ha-ha). I would rather walk around with the 3-day festival funk than wear most perfume, but that's just me. Most perfume gives me a headache.
I love the smell of lilacs, fresh cut grass and the smell after it rains. If I could accurately bottle these scents, I would be a happy girl.
I also love cupcakes.
I do not practice any religion, but I am interested in certain aspects Buddhism & Hinduism.
I love coffee...triple, carmel, soy latte is my drink of choice. Especially when it comes from the coffee trailer near my house - an old airsteam trailer. The beans are roasted locally and it is the best coffee. I will NOT go to Starbucks...evil, evil, evil. I try to support local businesses over giant corporations whenever I can.
I am allergic to wool! Plus I am vegetarian, so no leather/gelatin/fur for me either. This is VERY important.
If you send me anything anti-Bush, it will definitely make me smile. My favorite shirt has a drawing of a retro designed little girl with her hand covering her mouth and it reads: "Mommy says Republican is another word for F@%*er." Hilarious (to me). I do have friends that are not on the same page as me as far as politics, but that's okay. It makes for some good conversations/debates.
I have worn the same pairs of earrings for the past 10 years. I NEVER change them because anything other that small, silver hoops look funny on me. I do LOVE necklaces and bracelets though, although silver toned. Gold or bronzey tones do not go with my skin tone.
THINGS I LIKE
THINGS I TRY TO AVOID
Craftiness that I am curious about
All sorts of new crafts here. I look at the flickr page and there are so many neat things, that I have no clue about. They include: Stuffies, matchbooks, shrines, sock monkeys, tofu with a face, some of the Japanese crafts, bottle cap anything, bento boxes, crochet cupcakes (I would LOVE one of these if anyone wants to do a trade!)...there are more, but my mind is blanking out right now. I would not be opposed to receiving any of these items or other things I may not have listed.
My sister (who is my age) comes over every Thursday for dinner. She is my best friend. My little sister is in her first year at University/College. I miss her terribly and cried like a baby when she left. They (and my mom) are the reasons I stay living in a state that I cannot stand. I would love to live in Colorado or maybe the Northeast.
OTHER THAN ARTS AND CRAFTS, I LIKE TO...
Spend time with my mom and two sisters, play poker (not too much anymore), travel, learn about different cultures, cook & bake, camp, laugh, spend time with nature, game night with friends (love Scrabble), drink wine, take photos (which could be considered art some of the time), be ridiculously silly...
FAVORITE FOODS
I am really an easy person to make happy and am pretty laid back, for the most part. As long as you send me a vegetarian package that does not contain any right wing propaganda or Christian themed goodies, chances are I will love it.
Okay, enough about me
