I have a passion for rescuing old castoffs. I work with a range of recycled and upcycled materials, including felted wool sweaters, vintage planters, eggbeaters, and percolators. I constantly strive to find new ways to make these old items useful again, in a way that's both stylish and modern.
I teach classes and post tutorials on my blog, make things and sell them at craft fairs and on Etsy, and run a local indie craft show in my hometown called GLAM Indie Craft Show.
I love anything that involves repurposing old items into something fresh and modern. Felted wool sweaters are one of my favorite raw materials to work with. I still sew a few garments from scratch, but I spend more time revamping thrift-store clothing into garments that look like they stepped out of the Anthropologie catalog.
I adore anything midcentury modern -- clean lines, bright colors, and a dash of kitsch. See my Etsy shop for inspiration (http://sassycrafter.etsy.com).
I also love items that have a somewhat romantic feel, mainly along the lines of the dreamy items in the Anthropologie catalog -- textural layers that might include lace, velvet, houndstooth, etc. Along these lines, I also like things that are somewhat rustic or primitive looking -- more farmhouse than "country."
I'm not into goth, steampunk, vampires, cutesy, amigurumi, unicorns, mustaches, or anything else that has been dubbed a big trend.
