About Me

Hello, my name is Courtney. I was born in 1980 and have the same birthday as Anne Frank. I studied Art History in college and wish to god I could find a career that would allow me to use all that I have learned. I desperately would like to take a month off from work and live with my husband in a European city. I have two black cats, Porter and Kona. They have been recently introduced to the great outdoors. I am learning how to garden but could be much better at it. I long for the day when I can grow my own vegetables. I like to crochet and knit, but I could be much better at it as well. I have a magazine addiction, am an avid reader and currently I am trying to read more non-fiction. My favorite color is red. I believe in ghosts and don't want to talk about it. I adore craftsman style furniture and homes. I desperately miss my hometown of Richmond, VA.

Favorite Music

My favorite band is probably the Kinks. I love a lot of British pop music - stuff from the 60's onward.
I also love a lot of other bands so I will do some name dropping here: radiohead, elliott smith, blur, pulp, sigur ros, johnny cash, belle and sebastian, mum, the kinks, gomez, feist, cat power, elvis presley, simon and garfunkle, the smiths, the beatles, spoon, regina spektor, m.ward, and it just goes on and on...

Favorite Books

i worked at a bookstore for almost ten years...

my favorites are non-fiction books like 'devil in the white city' by erik larsen and 'krakatoa' by simon winchester (i think). i also really love books on crafts, art history and art theory. and of course, children's books.

Favorite Crafts

I like to sew and crochet. I really want to improve my knitting skills.

Colors

I like almost all colors. I am partial to reds but not really to pinks. I like primary and tertiary contrasts. I tend to be drawn toward traditional color pairings but also really enjoy combinations that are surprising. I do not like garish colors, including fluorescents. And I could do without most pastels.

Comment: I absolutely *love* the package you put together! The charms are wonderful, as are the CD, book, chocolate, seeds, and stationery. It was so imaginative to hide the charms in the box that way... I'll have to try it out for myself! Thank you so much for a great swap - it couldn't have come at a better time, and it really made my day! (Edit: I lived in Norfolk, VA for eight years, so I know what you mean about missing home - nowhere else compares to VA, in my opinion, although I could do without the sand!)

My tastes in colors are similar--- pastels do little for me. Enjoy the day! Grins, Sailor
