About Me

Hello, my name is Iris and I come from Kassel, which is in the middle of Germany. I am a designer, working as freelancer for advertising agencies. I'm 36 years old.

A few days ago I started with postcrossing and I'm so fascinated by the idea of sending and receiving nice little things with people from all over the world, that I registered here today. I'm looking forward to it.

I am interested in photography and arts - specially old paintings. I have a large balcony, where I grow herbs and I love cooking and baking my own bread.

The cat in my avatar picture is my little Ferris :-)

Favorite Books

My favourite writer is Tad Williams with his phantasy novels, and I also like German and American thrillers. Recently I read the Greywalker Series by Kat Richardson, which made me very curious about Seattle. Maybe I will be able to visit Seattle one day ...

Favorite Crafts

I love to knit socks and to crochet beanies. I'm a hard worker and spend most of my time in the job, so unfortunately I have not enough time for crafting.

Favorite Television

I like watching the Battlestar Galactica Series with Katie Sackhoff as Starbuck.

Favorite Movies

My favourite movie is Lost in Translation. The soundtrack is great. I also like the old movies with Peter Sellers and Blake Edwards as director.

I like

Photography, specially puristic, low-key and straight-lined. And I like paintings from the Old European Masters like Rembrandt or Rubens and the Pre Raphaelites like Waterhouse or Frederic Leighton.

Here is my list of things I like: - Fred Astaire - the little 1-Euro things from the drugstore - China (the country) - cooking, herbs and my kitchen - Star Trek - the color blue - lolcats

I don't like

I'm curious and open to new ideas, but there are things that are not my taste, for example: - spiritual and religious ideologies - kitsch - Hello Kitty and other cute children comic stuff - glitter
