it's hard to define really. mostly indie pop/rock, some folk, a little country now and then, and the ocassional top 40 hit. favorite band of all time is matchbox twenty. current favorites include of montreal, the go! team, jack's mannequin. i only really listen to music when i'm in the car, but my boyfriend has it on all the time and he has good taste... his ipod is full of animal collective, modest mouse, yeasayer, mgmt and the yeah yeah yeahs.
i'm self-taught in all areas of arts and crafts... i am a jack of all trades and a master of none. i like to experiment with sewing, painting, cardmaking and other paper crafts, and general craftiness.
i consider my biggest crafting accomplishments to be as follows: -- (pictures to be posted soon!) 5. Countless beautiful (quality) jewelry pieces (including metal and hemp pieces). 4. Dozens of handmade cards for all ocassions. 3. A patchwork purse created from upholstery material-- with matching wristlet. 2. Two felt plush robots, one boy and one girl, for my boyfriend and me for Valentine's Day. They are the cutest things! 1. Six paintings of President Obama in 6 different color schemes (monochromatic, direct complementary, split complementary, double complementary, analogous, and triad).
I like to buy a lot of crazy things really cheap or salvage things others want to throw away. I bought a couple of white picture frames at a flea market for fifty cents each and painted them specifically for the people I wanted to give them to. I also save things like unused pencils, the rings that come on gallons of milk, old salsa jars, Canadian change, and any other would-be trash.
I used to be an interior design major so I have a TON of those paint sample cards you take from Lowes when you're trying to decide what color to paint your house... I am cutting those into little circles and collaging them into something really cool. I'm not sure what yet, but I know it'll look awesome. It'll take me all summer just to cut out all these circles. I literally have HUNDREDS of circles to cut.
I also have this old dress that I only bought because I like the material... the dress looks hidous on me. I want to convert it into an apron, which will be simple enough once I can go home and get my sewing machine.
I am repainting old picture frames- one is Phillies themed and it's a gift for my boyfriend's mom. I'm going to put a picture of us at a game in it.
