About Me

I am a woman, a student, an activist, and an amateur writer. I am currently finishing up my undergrad work in English. That information alone should tell you that I read a lot and love it :) I consume fair trade and organic items (when I have the money for such items), while spending much of my time working with several non-profit organizations to bring a small improvement to our world. I am also a bit of a nerd and appreciate many nerdy stuff, which probably explains my boyfriend :)

I am American Indian (Navajo, to be specific) and am happy to share little items related to my tribe with others. I'm interested in receiving items from other tribes as well. I will not, however, share any culturally sensitive items (such as religious items) and would appreciate not receiving anything that represents a stereotypical Indian.

Favorite Music

In all honesty, I would have to say that I love nearly all music. I grew up listening to my parent's favorite rock, R&B, soul, and pop music from the 60s, 70s, and 80s. In my teens, I listened more to 90s/00s pop and rock, as well as classical music (thanks to being deeply involved in orchestra during high school). In my early college days it turned to garage bands and punk. Now, it's nearly everything, with the exclusion of most metal bands, country, and anything with misogynist or racist undertones.

Some favorites: 311, Authority Zero, Bon Jovi, CCR, The Format, Lauren Hill, Led Zepplin, Muse, Paramore, Patti Smith, Thrice

Favorite Books

I am very critical of the books I read, a side effect of being a Literature student. I enjoy postmodern, postcolonial literature told from a woman's perspective, but also incredibly long Victorian novels. I will absolutely fall in love with beautiful, lyrical writing with heavy symbolism.

Some of my favorites include: Anna Karenina by Leo Tolstoy, Atonement by Ian McEwan, Ceremony by Leslie Marmon Silko, Wide Sargasso Sea by Jean Rhys

Favorite Crafts

I dabble in many, many crafts. Drawing, embroidery, knitting (though I'm not very good at it), painting, scrapbooking, and sewing.
