I currently live in Pittsburgh, PA where I do customer experience analytics for a major bank, but am originally from Dallas, TX and have lived in 4 states in the past 10 years. I'm a self-professed "linguistics junkie" (even did ESL tutoring for a while) -- I speak 6 languages & am trying desperately to learn my 7th. Love to laugh, love hanging with friends, and love travelling. Anytime I can combine the 3 I'm pretty much ecstatic...! ;-)
I think back in the day it qualified as "emo" but my favorite band ever is Weezer. I'm all over anything with a quality beat, though - from 80's Madonna to Rusted Root to Barry White to The Cure. I also really dig country music (probably because of my Texas roots) - I mean, who doesn't love Dolly??
Oh, how I wish I had more time to read! I'm currently working on "Are You There, Vodka? It's Me, Chelsea" by Chelsea Handler for a little brain candy, but all-time favorite books are Dante's Divine Comedy and All the Pretty Horses by Cormac McCarthy. I also love poetry in all it's forms, but especially that of the transcendentalists.
Ok, so movies are kind of an obsession for me... Best ever is Cat on a Hot Tin Roof with Elizabeth Taylor and Paul Newman. Gorgeous, dramatic, deep. Say Anything with John Cusack is a classic and still makes me cry even after seeing it hundreds of times. Ferris Bueller, National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation, The Hangover, any/all of Christopher Guest's movies. The list goes on and on.
I actually lived without cable for a good 3 years and have been gradually growing fonder of the big glowing box. All of the shows on USA have become fast favorites -- Psych, Burn Notice, In Plain Sight. I also have a sort of weird fascination with Law & Order. I think it stems from having worked at a forensics lab as a teenager...
I'm not much of a crafter, but I love painting. Every bit of artwork in my house is self-made. I've always wanted to translate that over into learning how to make stained glass because there's something about the way that light shines through the different colors that just makes me happy. It's like making your own rainbow.
