NOTE: I just switched over to using a PO Box. If you have sent something to the old listed address, that's fine, it's my home. For future stuff, just use the newly posted PO box address. Thanks!
Basics: 30something, crazy cat lady, married with no kids, frequent traveler for work all around the east coast. Lifelong resident of Pennsylvania. Penn State alumna. Pretzel and beer enthusiast. Cleveland Indians/Cavs/Browns & Pittsburgh Penguins fan. If you want me to send any Amish-related postcards or things, let me know.
Travel stats:42 out of 50 US states (still no Alaska or Hawaii!), 4 Canadian provinces (ON, BC, AB, QC - I love Canada), and have been to Denmark, Mexico, Germany, the Caribbean islands, and Poland. I write/speak broken Spanish.
Hobbies: letter writing, Kawaii/stationery, cooking, skincare, decorating, genealogy and history, landscaping/gardening, spoiling my cats, following cat pages on Instagram, watching cat videos (do you see a pattern?), Geocaching (sometimes also with rock climbing and UrbEx!), exploring new places, photography (mostly landscape and nightscape), and reading.
TV watchlist:Sherlock, OITNB, Narcos, House of Cards, Bob's Burgers, Simpsons, Family Guy, Adam Ruins Everything, The Goldbergs, This is Us, Hoarders, The Grand Tour, Big Bang Theory, The Crown. Reruns of Dirty Jobs, MST3K, Star Trek TNG, Mythbusters, Top Gear (before the BBC kicked Clarkson/May/Hammond off), James May's Toy Stories/ManLab, and How It's Made. Any show featuring Anthony Bourdain or Alton Brown, too.
Movies:All-time favorites include Caddyshack, Ferris Bueller's Day Off, Spaceballs, Star Wars series, Witness, Harry Potter series, Wayne's World, The Big Lebowski, Full Metal Jacket, Animal House, Monty Python's Quest for the Holy Grail, Mall Rats, and Silence of the Lambs. If it's a screwball comedy or 80s Brat Pack film, I probably like it. I also enjoy campy and cult classic films. Grey Gardens, anyone?
Music:If it's defined as goth, electronica/ trance, new wave, or alternative from any era, I'm probably a fan. Along with that, some of my all-time favorites are Depeche Mode, Armin Van Buuren,The Cure, Nine Inch Nails, Fleetwood Mac, and Duran Duran. More modern favorites include St. Lucia, Father John Misty, Bastille, Atlas Genius, The Wombats, Haim and Paperwhite. Also really love jazz and classical and used to play the trumpet ages ago.
Poscards/cards:
Food/Drink: I'm a coffee and tea drinker. Dark or bold roast coffees, espresso roasts, espresso capsules. I use a Nespresso classic machine. My usual daily brewer is a Cuisinart 12-cupper with burr grinder. Fanatic of loose leaf teas, especially from Murchie's and David's Tea. Favorites are Genmaicha, Sencha, Gunpowder, Lapsang Souchong, Earl Grey, and Jasmine blends. Occasional drinker of wine and craft beer, try to go easy on sweets due to health reasons, love salty snacks and "local" flair, spice and flavorings addict. Hot sauce junkie. Allergic to mangoes (which sucks because they are delicious with a pile of Tajin seasoning on top).
Beauty/skincare:My skincare routine has a lot of steps and is somewhat of a hobby and obsession. I use a lot of Korean and Japanese-made products which include watery-type lotions, emulsions, serums, creams, sheet masks, exfoliants (typically AHA at a 7% concentration combined with 2% salicylic), and sleeping packs. I wear SPF 30+ sunscreen on my face everyday. I love chapstick - generally the petroleum-based varieties (I know some of you crunchy folk are cringing at that one. AHHHHH! The horror!) Anyway. I wear some make-up - usually BB cream, some highlighter, blush, and a lip tint. Maybe a little eyeshadow, typically earthy tones. I absolutely love bath products from LUSH and many etsy vendors. I really enjoy Dr. Teal's bubble bath and Epsom salts. I also use a lot of hand cream in the winter and love to keep small tubes on me all the time. The cold weather is great for chapped knuckles :( I subscribe to Ipsy and BomiBox currently and buy Target beauty boxes here and there.
Dislikes: Country clutter. Stuff for kids or babies (I don't have any and don't have anyone that usually wants it - my cats are totally not cool with wearing baby clothing). Wal-Mart patriotism and the "get out muh country" movement. Chain emails. Dishonest swappers and flakers. Stuff that smells like it spent 20 years in an ashtray. Things that don't meet swap requirements. Really do prefer store-bought or actual postcards over handmade unless the swap specifies homemade. Same for ad/freebie cards unless, again, the swap specifies them.
Politics:Feel free to talk about whatever. I'm pretty interested in world politics. I like old president stamps, old campaign paraphernalia, old war propaganda, etc. As far as offense goes, I take none. You could send me a postcard featuring Vladimir Putin shirtless riding a bear and I'd probably give you a heart. You could turn a Joe Biden meme into a postcard and if I could I'd give you a dozen hearts and a thank you card. I also love Canadian politics and follow them a little too closely for the average American. You all seem so civil and polite in comparison to the romper room known as Washington DC right now.
Religion:No proselytizing. I'm not religious and rarely darken the door of a religious institution, but love images of churches and religious symbolism. Eastern mysticism, Buddhism, Paganism, and the artwork of Islam is all fascinating. I also love those "nun fun" cards and postcards. I grew up Catholic so I have to get a laugh on 30 years of past guilt in some way, right?
I celebrate/observe most all US holidays including but not limited to Christmas, New Year's, Easter, Galentine's Day, Valentine's Day, April Fool's, Talk Like a Pirate Day (Yarrrr), Donut Day, Fat Tuesday/Mardi Gras, Coffee Day, Solstice, my birthday, St. Pat's Day, 4th of July, Labor Day, Memorial Day, Vet's Day, Halloween, Thanksgiving, Boxing Day, and Cinco de Mayo. As for Columbus Day, screw that guy. Not a good dude.
Are there unique or interesting holidays in your country? Write about them - maybe put a related stamp on the card about them.
Notes on mailing:I send and receive everything out of a hub post office - 18002. Now I'm not overloading my walking mail carrier with packages and letters.
If you've read all of this, nice work and a round of applause! Yay!
