I am a homeschooling mother of 7, married for 17 yrs. We live in West texas. We raise our own sheep and chickens and have just acquired a herd of goats (everything seems to multiply around here!)I have a terrible addiction to yarn, almost as bad as my love of books. In fact, a perfect day is spent with a cup of cocoa reading about yarn. My kids are all still at home and making the house a "nest" is really important so I try to make it comfy and warm and smelling of chocolate chip cookies.
We listen to just about everything. We definitely have eclectic tastes and you are just as likely to find Handel next to the bhangra as Kirk Franklin or Dexter Gordon sittin' next to Evanescence or Rammstein. And the mariachi's are always in there too. Never know when a piece of music is going to strike you!
My fav's are ghost stories- more, Wuthering Heights than Stephen King. My favorite book is A Separate Peace. Recent favorite is The Thirteenth Tale. I also like to read novels by Indian authors (the country). I think Chitra Banerjee Divakaruna writes the most magical stories. I am also trying to work my way through some classics that I missed in school. We have a big collection of books, I stopped counting a while back, but they are everywhere! My husband calls them eye candy, so he's supportive of my addiction.
We don't have television, so I'm probably behind but that being said-Give me a good Brittish Mystery any time. Right now I'm working my way through MI-5 but also love Wire in the Blood and Inspector Lynley. I really like Lost as well. My favorite American show would be the Barefoot Contessa. Ina seems like someone you could be totally comfortable with.
I've been crocheting since I was 7 and it is my first love. I also love to scrapbook, really anything that has to do with paper crafting, right now I'm making an altered book with our last vaca photos. My style is definitely distressed and altered. I'm just learning to needle felt, and liking it!
I love natural fibers, couldn't pick a fav, although I think wool would be first. My favorite colors are earth tones- browns, blacks, greens, greys...think storm clouds and forests-there are some delicious blues out there too. My husband is American and French and we spent a couple of months in the village where he grew up just north of Paris after we were first married, so naturally I'm a little bit of a francophile. We used to make day trips into Mexico a lot, but now it's not so safe, so sad, loved having breakfast in Tecate. My next international trip will probably be back to France but my dream trip would be to India.
I love anything that has to do with cooking, kitchens, dishes- I can lose an afternoon with a King Arthur or WS catalog. Office supplies are a major addiction. I've given up trying to figure out why I HAVE to buy another container of clips or pad of paper. Coffee is another of my favorite things.
Favorites....hhmmm, not in any paticular order. Chocolat, Kama Sutra-a tale of love, The Wizard of OZ, Amelie, Much Ado About Nothing, The Holy Grail, Dangerous Beauty, Monsoon Wedding, The Original Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Sense and Sensibility,The Count of Monte Cristo, Uptown Girls, The Butterfly Effect, Star Wars (the old ones), Emma, Bridget Jones (just the first one), Pan's Labyrinth, Lion Witch and The Wardrobe
