I love simple design and graphics. I like clean lines and uncluttered spaces. My color palette preference tends to be on the neutral and cool side as well. My favorite colors are blue, green, white, black, and brown. I love paper! I'm not a collector anymore but if the paper is really pretty, rare, fancy, etc. I will get it. I like stationery and I think letter-writing is a lost art (not that I write many letters myself these days). I like Snoopy and the Peanuts gang. Especially vintage Snoopy. I'm also a wanna-be writer. I keep a blog, but sometimes don't blog enough to warrant having one. I've had characters and dialogues in my head since 2000 but I've yet to write them down. Or if I did, they were jotted down on brown recycled napkins as I sat in some coffee shop while taking a break from studying. One day I will publish a novel or a memoir. I like animals. I don't have any pets of my own but enjoy the benefits of having a roommate who has a dog AND a cat. I wish I could travel more. I would love to see the English countryside, the Tuscan hills, and the Greek coasts some day. But I would equally enjoy lounging beachside in Tahiti or waking around NYC.
I enjoy photography. I liked taking pictures with a manual film camera, but I love the freedom that digital photography offers. I received a Nikon D40 from my friends for my birthday last year and I use it to practice and learn. (I'm a true amateur, believe me!) I first got interested in photography when I saw photographs done by Ansel Adams. I also like Jay Maisel, but by no means am I an expert on either one of them. My dream is to one day go on a photo excursion around the country -- or around the world! By then I hope to have a slightly more sophisticated camera. ;) I also enjoy knitting, but I'm not very ggood at it. I knit mostly scarves, but a friend of mine is a pro and she tries to get me to venture out of my knitting box. I think scrapbook is cool!! But I don't enough time and patience to do it, I think. I'm not a "crafter" necessarily, but I think I can be pretty creative sometimes and will try all kinds of crafty things, at least once.
I love to read! I like chick lit, classics, inspirational books, and popular fiction. My all-time favorite books include: Pride and Prejudice. Jane Eyre. True Believer. To Kill a Mockingbird. Jemima J. Bridget Jones's Diary. I've also enjoyed (from what I can recall off the top of my head): The Time Traveler's Wife. The Friday Night Knitting Club. Emma. The Great Gatsby. The Book Thief. Memoirs of a Geisha. Girls' Guide to Hunting and Fishing. A Time to Kill. The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe. The Da Vinci Code. The Women of Genesis series. Confessions of a Shopaholic.
I don't read romance or horror books.
I heart movies! I prefer movies over most television shows. I like comedy, drama, dramedy, romance, romantic comedy, chick flicks, some psych thrillers, foreign films, sci-fi, action. But generally, I don't like movies that have too much violence, nudity, profanity, blood and gore, and generally disturbing themes. Some of my favorte movies are: Love Actually. Pretty Woman. Independence Day. Bridget Jones's Diary. Spaceballs. Braveheart. Notting Hill. Muriel's Wedding. Pride and Prejudice (A&E). Anne of Green Gables. Anne of Avonlea.
My music tastes are pretty ecclectic. It's more about a song for me, rather than genres or even artists. However, I don't particular care for heavy metal or heavy rap. Here are some of my favorite artists: Ella Fitzgerald. The Cranberries. Queen. U2. Michael Buble. Louis Armstrong. The Carpenters. ABBA. The Corrs. Point of Grace. Avalon. Amy Grant. Van Morrison. Aretha Franklin. Marvin Gaye. Ray Charles. Norah Jones. Edwin McCain. Eva Cassidy. James Taylor. Maroon 5. Billie Holiday. David Gray. John Mayer.
My favorite television show is Friends, hands down. I own the complete 10 seasons. Two sets of them. But I still watch syndicated episodes, almost on a daily basis. I'm not obsessed, really. It was just a good show and it reminds of some good times. Other shows I enjoy watching are Frasier, Gray's Anatomy, Ugly Betty, and How I Met Your Mother. I think PBS is one of the greatest things on television. I enjoy the occasional British import like "The Vicar of Dibley" (I think Dawn French is hilarious.) I don't care much for reality television, although I enjoy a couple of them here and there. Some of them are just down right stupid.
