I am a fifty something grandmother- young at heart- My young grandchildren (4 of them) are the loves of my life. I have been married 35 yrs. to a great man. I am a nurse who works at a community mental health center.I am an avid reader- books (fiction and memoirs) and magazines. I love to be creative. It makes me feel good. I live in a 250yr old house and love decorating it with Primitive items- I love primitive looking raggedy ann dolls and old (or made to look old) samplers. I grew up by the ocean and could never live far from it. I love to sit and just watch the waves. Very calming. I love almost all colors but my most favorite are the lavenders, pinks, aquas, blues and yellows and peaceful greens (not kelly) The only hot beverage I drink is hot chocolate. I have never liked tea or coffee. I get my caffeine from diet Pepsi. At 9 every morning. I love chocolate- mostly milk choc.- with soft centers or caramel- I like most all candy except for hard or things with nuts. Twizzlers red licorice is my all time favorite non chocolate candy.
Classical- especially Mozart and Beethoven- also Billy Joel, Bruce Springsteen, Neil Diamond and the BEATLES. I like Rod Stewarts albums of the old classics and his 60's stuff- Wake up Maggie..etc.
Some new age- especially Narada or Windham Hill stuff.
On Golden Pond, PeeWee\\'s Big Adventure, Ferris Bueller\\'s Day Off, Sure Thing, Little Miss Sunshine, Star Wars (Eps 4,5,6).Spirited Away, Howl\\'s Moving Castle, Laura\\'s Star, and My Neighbor Tortoro I really love- all of which are Japanese cartoons, and are fantastic and very unique.
NCIS, CSI (the original), Cold Case,Without a Trace, Survivor, American Idol, Bones, House, TLC and HGTV- just about anything on these 2 channels Favorite shows of all time- Wonder Years (when will it be out on DVD??), and Homicide. The BEST EVER tv show was Buffy the Vampire Slayer.Loved, loved, loved it. And Angel comes in second.
I am an avid scrapbooker. It relaxes me, especially after a long hard day at work, and makes me happy to make a fun page with pix of my grandchildren. I love having this record of their lives. I enjoy rubber stamping- making my own cards, altered books, and I am just starting to try altered mail. (Using old envelopes to decorate and write on as paper)I also love to knit- right now mostly afghans and childrens sweaters. No crocheting tho- I never could get the hang of it.
I read mostly fiction- novels that have some substance to them- literature, so to speak, but sometimes I enjoy some lighter fare (Luanne Rice and Jodi Picoult)- but no "romance." I like historical fiction a great deal and mysteries- especially if the author has a series with the same characters like Carol O'Connell and Michael Connelly- I like to read them in order when possible. Lee Child is my favorite thriller writer, Peter Robinson is a great English mystery writer. I do enjoy memoirs- especially about people who have had traumatic childhoods etc.(The Glass Castle)Basically, I love all books- just the feel and smell of them. I have to say I am a bibliophile.
