Hi all!
My name is Sheri and I'm currently 25 years old. I decided to start Swap-bot on the recommendation of a friend, but I feel like I'm a little bit too chicken to actually share my crafts with other people. >.< So I'm going to start small and see how it goes.
I live in southern California (though I desperately want to move out of here) and am currently working as a research associate with some good friends of mine. It's a long story, but I think we've just been upped to being ghostwriter. @_ The idea is daunting, yet quite exciting.
I love learning about new things. Though I studied history in college (I adore history), I'm also immensely interested in learning about new ideas related to to the sciences and other disciplines. Though I don't always understand the technical terms (or maybe, most of the time) I love learning about the principles of things.
I'm also a Christian. I've been a Christian since I was in kindergarten and have been going to church meetings ever since. I meet in a group akin to the house church movement, so it's non-denominational. I also work with our youth group and have gone on Bible distribution trips in other countries. The love of learning also means I love learning about other religious groups, so please don't think of me as a close-minded Bible thumping Christian--though I do love the Bible.
Here are my likes and dislikes!
Likes: I collect cows, but I also love other animals such as elephants, turtles, giraffes, and hippos. I really like old things: old buttons, old sheet music, old books. There's just something to items with history. :) I like ribbons, fun patterns, and kawaii things! I also appreciate anything that has to do with music: musical scores, musical symbols, etc. In general, I just like cute things. Oh, oh! I also really like geometric shapes.
Dislikes: I do not appreciate anything rude: foul language, rude remarks, and the like. Inappropriate jokes and pictures are also on the list. Things I appreciate but wouldn't want are really, really flowery things. Also things that are overly scented give me headaches.
I love knitting. When I was in college I knitted in class, while doing homework, in conversations, and even while walking! I'm pretty obsessed about it. Recently I've started branching out from scarves and baby blankets and I've started to make hats! Eventually I want to get to socks and mittens.
In the past few months I've been experimenting with making stationary and discovered that I love it! I especially like making cards. I used to be into scrapbooking, but I simply don't have the patience and endurance to get through entire albums. To me, making cards is just a mini scrapbook consisting of one page!
I also really love photography, but... my camera is recently deceased so I've been camera-less. Sadness. So until I get a new camera, photography has been put on hold.
Music is the other love of my life. I am passionately devoted to music. I've experimented and played all sorts of different instruments--the piano, viola, triangle, recorder, harmonica, Chinese violin--to name a few. Even just looking at music scores makes me happy.
Classical music has always been a part of my life. I started playing the piano when I was in kindergarten, and though I've stopped taking lessons, that doesn't stop me from still tickling those ivories. I love operas and musicals.
Exploring other kinds of music (except contemporary in the classical sense) is also one of my great interests.
I've been meaning to go to an antique store or some sort of old bookstore to find old music scores to make crafts out of, but I simply haven't gotten around to it yet. But mark my words, I will someday!
