I'm 57, divorced, and was brought up in the 50's and 60's as a typical housewifey wife. I cook and sew, make jams and jelly. cakes and bread. I was the room mother when my daughter was in school. The scout leader, The neighborhood MOM. Now I'm taking care of my dad and autistic brother. And I want to finish my charm quilt. Help!!! I have TONS of extra quilting fabric to share, and a neighbor who is a quilter too.
I haven't read my favorite book yet, but I loved The Count Of Monte Cristo. So much better than the movie. So much detail, and excitement. I went thru a period when I read the stuff I didn't do in high school.
I love the old classic musical and costume bits. Gone With The Wind, My Fair Lady, and comedies, Harvey with Jimmy Stewart is a favorite. Arsenic and Old Lace, and The Philadelphia Story with Kathryn Hepburn. With so much going on in my life I need to laugh.
Grey's Anatomy, House, The Big C, Nurse Jackie, and The Neighbors. I have an eclectic taste. Medical shows and stupidity.
I don't do cross stitch anymore, since my eyes turned traitor on me and I had to start wearing bifocals. But Other than that, I knit and crochet, sew quilt, beadwork, at one time or another, I think I've done it all.
Right now my fave is quilting and knitting, very portable.
If you find that you need a bit of this or a handful of buttons, or something "odd" Ask me, I just might have it. I'm willing to share for the cost of postage no handling, and if it's just a stamp, no worries I'll just send it to you, (a box full is another story). My parents were collectors, so I came by the same gene, I have boxes and boxes of stuff.
I have been trying for years to do a charm quilt. What started out as 3" charms are now 2 1/2" and I figure that I need a few hundred more than I originally expected. Any color, but more light than dark. I taught myself to knit a few years back, nothing extravagant, but I can do it while watching TV. Right now my house is torn up with contractors doing repair work and I'm trying to replan my bedroom. It has a horrible blue carpet, and I can't even imagine what to replace it with.
