**** ATTENTION**** Yet another update! OK everyone.... I'm coming clean. I am way behind on a few swaps. I have been having some health issues since October and am finding it harder to keep up with my "normal" life. Between doctors appointments and being a wife and mother, a few things have fallen by the way side. I plan to finish my current projects. I will be honest, this may take a few weeks. I am so very sorry about this! I will not flake! I know I may earn a few threes, but I hope to avoid any ones! I have sent messages to all of my partners, but if I missed you, please let me know. I am trying to log on every day, but I might miss a day here or there. Thanks for your continued patience in this. I can't wait to put all of this behind me! I enjoy painting, drawing (mostly abstract) and cross stitch. I am also trying to learn how to knit. I love doing crafts, even though I don't think I am that good. The drive, creativity and willingness are there, I'm just a little short on talent! And sewing abilities! :) I hope to learn and pick up a lot of ideas from these swaps. Already I have a few ideas buzzing around in my brain from looking at other people's profiles. (And I feel like such a poser!)
I am a stay at home Mom who loves to read and cook, especially baking! I have a 2 year old daughter and have been married for 11 years. I love receiving packages, letter, postcards, anything really, in the mail. I even open up every piece of junk mail. My daughter has created some cool artwork with that stuff! Well, as cool as a two year old can make it! :)
I love bright sunny colors and anything cheerful. I also love odd and off the walls stuff. I am not easily offended and can see the humor in just about any situation. :) I love items that are beautiful and useful. Things that have been given a second life. I try to throw as few things into the garbage as possible and will use my stuff until it has practically turned into dust! Thank God for duct tape!
My daughter, Nadia, is a budding artist. She would paint/color/draw all day if I let her. I have to entice her outside sometimes with sidewalk chalk. Need to wear her out for naps somehow! ;) She loves markers, crayons, colored pencils, paint, watercolors, chalk, play-doh, clay and stickers. Especially the stickers! But since she is only two I try to stick with non-toxic/washable stuff. Her current favorite things are turtles, monkeys and Hello Kitty! What a combo!
Here is a better detailed list of things I like. After seeing everyone else's profile, I figured I better be a little clearer! :)
My favorite color is yellow. I cannot think of a color that I abhor, so no worries there. I have no allergies, lucky me! Though I do try to fake allergies when presented with brussel sprouts.
Which opens to my next favorite thing, food! I love any and all candy, dark chocolate, floral flavored treats, (think rose, lavender, violet, etc...), black licorice. I drink coffee, tea, wine and beer, and of course milk, (Two gallons a week!) I love experimenting with exotic herbs, spices, and flavored salts and sugars! I can't think of a single style of cooking that I don't enjoy. I also do a lot of walking and hiking as a result of this paragraph!
I like bar soaps, scrubs and lotions. My favorite scent is clove, and I also enjoy floral, fruity and musky scents. Hard not to win with this one!
My favorite craft is pen and ink drawings, but I also do cross stitch and I enjoy turning trash into treasure. One of my favorite magazines is Ready Made (check the website!) So many cool things to make and repurpose! I'll try anything at least once. Right now I'm trying to learn how to knit and am thinking of taking up sewing again. I haven't sewn since I was 12, but it's like riding a bicycle, right?
I am a member of PostCrossing, love to mail and receive postcards. And I just started a Bookcrossing account. Can't wait to see where that one takes me!
A couple of odd likes that didn't seem to fit in the above paragraphs--
~Wonder Woman (All the world is waiting for you!)
~Smurfs, they are so smurfalishis!
~Bubbles, love to make 'em and blow 'em.
~Pens - all kinds, colorful, gel, sparkly, thick or thin tipped, markers, ball point, fountain. You get the idea!
~Postcards. Especially funny, odd, unique, handmade, or ads. I am also not easily insulted, so if you have that one card that you just don't know who to send it to, I am that person!
~Red Flyer Wagon, I had my first kiss with my now husband (aaawwww) and then later he proposed on the worlds largest Red Flyer Wagon in Spokane, WA. Visit http://www.spokaneriverfrontpark.com/content.php?id=89 to see it! I seem to have a soft spot for this American icon.
~Laughter, I love anything quirky and whimsical that will make me smile. My Great Grandmother always said, "You can either laugh or cry!" Guess which one I chose. :)
~Paper model building. This is a really new thing, but it is oddly satisfying.
~Dictionaries, the older the better. I love to look through them and try to find odd and cool words. I know, it's a floccinaucinihilipilification hobby, but it's a great way to fill a rainy afternoon!
~Jewelery, especially dangley earrings and bracelets.
~New ideas and how-to's. I need all the help can get!
~Scarfs and wraps, I have a serious addiction to them all. And a major coat fetish. I love to visit the second hand stores and see what fits!
The only two things I can think of that I may not enjoy would be American mid-west country style (think geese, baby blue and corn cobs.), and bath gel/bubble/salt (I am not a tub soaker but I can spend an hour in the shower. I know, so wasteful!) I also kill any and all plants in my path. I am always consistently trying to grow something, but manage to kill them eventually! My husband calls them my compost projects! ha ha
That's it for now unless anyone else asks for more information. I am just happy that someone is willing to take the time to send me something in the mail. (Did I mention I love receiving mail?) Thank you!!!

Hi! We received the package today. :) Elizabeth was THRILLED. Ironically, she's been bugging me to make a paper bag puppet for weeks! Great timing. Please tell Nadia that Elizabeth saw the turtle. We must just be too old, heehee. Elizabeth will send something back to Nadia, and we can exchange tips whenever you'd like. Have you read the "Tightwad Gazette" books? They are very thought provoking.
P.S. I'm game for a cuppa joe. See ya in 2010!
