About Me

Hello there! My name is Ashley, and I love creating things for swaps on Swap-bot. I also enjoy binge watching my favorite shows, going to concerts, hanging out with close friends, and exploring with my husband. My birthday is on September 18th, and I live in Illinois. I am 15 minutes away from Saint Louis, Missouri, so we often travel over there for food, shopping, site-seeing, etc!

I recently graduated from Southern Illinois University Edwardsville in May with a Bachelor's degree in English, and an Illinois teaching certification. I'm a certified 6th-12th English teacher with an endorsement in teaching English as a second language (ESL). I am currently working as an ESL teacher in Belleville. I am many things, but I am the most proud of my accomplishments as a student. I am very much a teacher, and I enjoy any and all teachery things!

I met my husband in high school (around 2007), and we've been together ever since. We were recently married on June 20th, 2015! It was a lovely day, and we spent a week in San Diego, California for our honeymoon. What an adventure!

We recently welcomed our first nephew into the world! His name is Elias. He is my sister-in-law's son. He was born November 4th, 2015. He is super precious, and we love him tremendously!

Favorite Authors

I love to read! It would take me forever to list all of my favorite books, so I am going to name a few of my favorite authors instead. I enjoy reading books by Arthur Nersesian, Chuck Palahniuk, Ray Bradbury, Jonathan Safran Foer, Toni Morrison, David Sedaris, Michael Chabon, Ernest Hemingway, Kurt Vonnegut, Jenny Lawson, and more.

Favorite Television

My favorite television shows are The Walking Dead, The Office, Bob's Burgers, Orange is the New Black, Regular Show, Breaking Bad, Fear the Walking Dead, Parks and Recreation, and more. I also love to watch The Food Network, especially the Barefoot Contessa. She's my home girl.

Crafting

I love making paper crafts. My best friend Sarah introduced me to ATCs, and I've become an addict. Crafting brings me closer to my mom, who can make anything under the sun!

I put 100% into everything I make. I will never send anything that is under the standards, and please know that everything I make is my best effort! If there is a problem with what you received, please either contact me or send it back before you rate me. Chances are if it is damaged or not up to "par", something happened after sending it off. I will fix any problems! This has been an issue in the past, and ruined Swap-bot for me a little. However, I am back and do not want to miss out on the fun anymore!

I'm not very picky, and I don't dislike that much...but here are a few things I do not like. I prefer not to receive anything related to:

  • Racism
  • Homophobia
  • Anything overly religious (scripture, note-pads with scripture, etc.)
  • "Stars and Bars" (Anything with the confederate flag on it)
  • Camo/hunting

Comment: I don't know much about Magritte - past his iconic apple face man with hat. I did my card on Teesha Moore who created zettiology as I want to be able to create more in that style.

Comment: Per swap requirements: "...with at minimum swap name and username on the back.". Sent PM when ATC was received to inform of missing information as this shows lack of time and attention to swap and art. Will gladly re-rate if swap requirements are met. Will also gladly show PM showing her unwillingness to resend, but of course the offer is still there to re-rate if re-sent. Thanks and happy swapping :)
Response: I made a simple mistake by forgetting my name and title on the back of the ATC. I assure future swappers that I am a responsible person and do not flake. As far as her threat of showing a "PM" with me, I do not recall that message ever being sent. However, I will be glad to resend this ATC to her from 2010! :)
