No One Belongs Here More Than You by Miranda July, The Maytrees by Annie Dillard, Drown by Junot Diaz, Magical Realist Fiction (anthology, assd authors)
Drugstore Cowboy, Santa Sangre, A Clockwork Orange, The Lover, Three Colors Trilogy (Blue, White, Red), Amorres Perros, Lost in Translation, The Royal Tenenbaums, As Good As It Gets, Suburbia, Almodovar films, if I stretch my definition of "favorite." They make for a good discussion anyway!
I like campy fun too- Napoleon Dynamite, Nacho Libre, Let's go to Prison...
Not much to say here- full time wife and mama, part time philosopher enjoying the simple things :) I love all things artsy and thoughtful and value creativity. Oh and yeah, I guess if you're taking the time to read this you should know that I have a really odd sense of humor which is fun sometimes, plain awkward mostly, but strangely difficult for me to tell which in advance...
Stuff on top of my wish list right now- A journal of any size/type, with unlined archival/acid free paper would rock! Even more so if it's home made! I would also dig it if my partner happened to be artistic and could draw or watercolor some prints I could mount and hang on my walls- My tastes run on the side of birds and fruit but I love to be surprised too! Bonus points if you can do 2-3 similar as a "series" to hang together :D
MIX CD'S of any type of music! (alright, ok, I'm not that cool/eclectic... rap, country, religious and dance music not so much...) I can never join the swaps b/c I don't have full track info for my jams- my fav cd's are 3rd hand rips/mixes from dirty punk rockers but I'd love to swap some random cd mixes =) I would also love an Elvis Costello rip like greatest hits or something.
I'm partial to dark chocolate (like the 60% or more cocoa content).
I also love books and book related stuff like bookmarks, etc! I have a three year old too so are always on the lookout for cute little "chirpie birds" cute chicken toys (cuteness being the important point for her LOL!) and used books for her. Have a hubby too. If you're into thrift stores or yard sales I'm always on the lookout for vintage cotton t-shirts in dark colors (gray, black, dark blue) in XL in prints that the boys wont make fun of, themes like cars, sports, etc.
I also love to get postcards/items that are unique to your country or region. I like getting "slice of life" type mail with pictures of where you live, places you go and stuff like that. Another fav is flash fiction snail mail and the like =)
My daughter loves the pillsbury doughboy- hubby accidentally knocked over her figurines and they broke :( If you have any doughboy stuff around the house that you aren't using it would rock!!!
I love about anything handmade, or hand picked with love :) I love etsy, see my faves here, might give you an idea of the kind of stuff I like http://www.etsy.com/favoritelistingspublic.php?user_id=5076981&ref=favorites
I live in a very multicultural area- across the street is Little India and the next city over has one of the largest Asian populations in the US- Soooo if you like cutey "Morning Glory" stationary or boxed Indian cuisine I can get it for ya :)
Overly femme- bright pinks, sparkly, fluorescent anything.
Bath and body products, candles, unless they are home made and non or lightly scented.
Edibles- no artificial flavor/colors. If there are ingredients that sound like they were created in a lab it will make me and my daughter sad and my husband probably happy cos he'll be the one eating it :P
I'll do it ASAP! If I have an issue with a swap from you I will contact you FIRST! I hope you will extend that same courtesy to me =)
