Update: 8/3/2014 I will complete all of my swaps by the end of next week. I've been in the hospital and must wait for my next check to send everyone. Sorry for the extreme lateness.
Update.... 7/22/2014 As everyone is pointing out I am now late with several swaps. I offer the following as an explanation not an excuse. I suffer from mental illness. Specifically, Bipolar Disorder and extreme adult ADHD. I recently had a bought of depression and was off of my medication for my ADHD. This makes it difficult to remember things and I lack all energy for daily activities. I honestly can say that I forgot about swap-bot until I finally logged on today. I will fulfill all of my swaps it will just take a little while. Obviously my hopes of becoming part of a community were I could send and receive fun snail mail have been dashed. I wish that there was someway of redeeming oneself here on swap-bot but it sounds like your not welcome here once you screwup.
I'm a 50 year old male retired psychologist who is often described as slightly weird and eccentric. The small town I live in is in Southern Illinois in the USA. I'm divorced and have two twenty something boys. I enjoy reading, photography and have recently been bitten by the Artist Trading Card bug. Nature and the natural world are particular likes of mine. I am an avid hiker and birdwatcher. Currently, I am owned by a wonderful Affenpinscher named Mable. She is truly a bitch and I love her. (Can you tell I'm a dog person?)
Love all kinds of music. Everything from Creed and Three Doors Down to Journey and Crosby Stills and Nash. I'm very eclectic. I enjoy disco and heavy metal. The only music that I don't care for is country and although I continue to try to understand classical music it's draw continues to allude me.
Reading has always been a passion of mine. I also have an eclectic approach to my reading. I love reading travel and other memoirs. (Think Bill Bryson) Biography and the works of Dean Koontz are particular favorites.I enjoy some poetry by Robert Frost.
I love old TV shows and British comedy. Shows I regularly follow are I Love Lucy and Gilligan's Island. Some of the newer comedies I like are Will and Grace and Big Bang Theory. I also enjoy Are You Being Served and Keeping Up Appearances. My ultimate favorite show is John Cleese in Fawlty Towers. Being a child of the sixties and seventies, any television show from those eras are a special interest.
I'm totally addicted to anything Mel Brookes has made. I love Blazing Saddles, Young Frankenstein and The Producers. Currently I enjoy Mellissa McCarthy and other comedic actresses. Really any comedy that makes me laugh is a favorite, even some romantic comedy. I don't like slapstick or "silly" comedy nor chic flix. I also like old movies especially The Marx Brothers and Charlie Chan.
I consider my self more artsy than crafty but I enjoy acrylic and watercolor painting, using colored pencils and paper craft . My main artistic endeavor is collage.I have recently discovered ATC and other altered arts. Matchbox alters and origami also fascinate me. I enjoy mixed media as well as kinetic art as done by Calder. Mobiles are a particular passion. I enjoy Dali's Surrealism and am drawn to impressionistic painters. I also like the works of Andy Warhol and Georgia O'Keefe. Dale Chihuly's work with glass and color fascinates me. Picasso is also a favorite. I enjoy all forms of art but am especially drawn to collage and surreal art.
I truly appreciate anything I get but ...
