About Me

work a bit too much (admittedly because I love my job so much) and need to spend more time on my craft...

Favorite Music

my recent tops not really in a particular order: FotC, Spoon, Death Cab, Modest Mouse, Josh Ritter, The Be Good Tanyas, JB & KG, Stephen Kellogg & the Sixers, Antje Duvekot, Velvet Underground, Push Kings, Slaid Cleaves, Standard croon & torch, Ellis Paul, The Weepies, The Pixies, A yodel every now & then, John Gorka, Ben Taylor & his dad, Jefferson Starship...my Zen collection is growing, as I find time to rip things onto it, but the space on that thing is virtually endless!

Favorite Movies

Drop Dead Fred, Any Thin Man Movie, Christmas in Connecticut, Dead Again, Sliding Doors(my VHS just died - um yeah - I've watched it too many times), I could start typing various Cary Grant films but that could go on for a while, same with Doris Day & Rock Hudson, and Bob Hope and Danny Kaye and Bing Crosby, and ______(insert classic great here)

Favorite Television

The Young Ones, Highlander, Fawlty Towers, Father Ted, Bishop of Dibley, Monty Python, Six Feet Under, Dead Like Me, Chuck, Eureka, Rather liked that one with Aidan Quinn as the Episcopal priest short run though it was

Other Things I Think About

Birds

Robots

Mushrooms

Trees

Deer

Hedgehogs

Squirrels

Monkeys

Siamese

feel like I've gotten a bit too intricate with the animal kingdom here, so moving on

Vintage - think 50s and before

Color - The whole color wheel is finding it's way into my kitchen and light blues & greens rule over other places but subdued citrus hues bring a calming happy, and white, black & brown accents find their way around nicely

Geometric - think polka dots, stripes, argyle...

Typeface - alpha or numeric, 1, 2, 3 or 4 dimensional

Art Deco - absolutely not the only style I enjoy just the one to pop into my head tonight

French inspired - Dream of one day waking up within walking distance of a Parisian flea market on a saturday morning

Kawaii - am equal opportunity on this one with all those non-sanrio characters being all but unobtainable around my parts they'd be quite appreciated (but Deery Lou, Pandapple, & Chococat always seems to make me smile too)

Zakka - I'm loving everything I see - feel like I need to learn more

Magazines - I hoard them, it's shameful. It's also shameful that I want more. They just keep coming out with them! I don't have much access to international and/or japanese crafting magazines & books. I daydream about the newer ones with tiny quilts, unbearably cute sewn objects & itsy witsy felted creatures.

Fabric

Mmhmm I Like Japanese linens & cottons (think cute things such as the things mentioned above especially if they are doing cute things) Amy Butler, Heather Bailey, Joel Dewberry, & Denyse Schmidt - once had a quilt shop owner asked me about Ms. Schmidt "Is she a quilter?" Oh my goodness! :0 Vintage (think 50's & before) Polka Dots (they make me happy) Felteither the flat kind or the ball of "hey go ahead & try to needle me" kind, is happy days with me Any bolt in Purl Soho 'nuff said

Not-So-Like-y Regular Store fabric (Don't know how to say this - think Walmart/Jo-ann's - though don't get me wrong Jo-ann's rocks in many other ways!) Disney & Pooh & other popular kid's cartoon-y like - well you know what I mean Out of this World Frou Here we're thinking new lace and pepto pink girls Country & Colonial There are some lines of reproduction early american fabrics that are kinda neat other than that, this just isn't "where I'm at" Neon & Flannel I'm obliged to put this on here because everyone else has listed it as a dislike - so if I don't I will get several nation's worth of rejected neon & flannel fabric on my doorstep

*I've just broken rule # 4,237 not to get too particular - but I hope it helps - a little

Favorite Crafts

sewing, ephemera, felting, paper galor, quality fabrics, stationary and the lost art of letter writing which I often misplace myself, gardening & baking & cooking & cleaning - all crafty in their own right I believe...

there are more...I know this because I like to do most things craft...wise...hmmm...having trouble though formulating...I think this though provides a good jumping off point...

Response: I have investigated this...there are conflicting reports that an intact one may have made it through as well...as I am perplexed I have sent an oops- I-apologize-for-the-postal-mystery-package

Long time no swap, Sparrow! I just wanted to wish you a Happy Shakespeare's Birthday & let you know that I still keep your Shakespeare card from last year on my bulletin board! It's one of my favorite things received through swap-bot....so thanks again for it. Hope you're well these days!

i have to agree with sylverstarz17 about how i reacted to my surprise angel package for the inchies swap! when i realised what you had done i almost cried because there just aren't many people like you in this world. thanks so much for the lovely card, the inchies (which are actually my faves out of the whole swap -the felted one is such a great idea!!!), and the way cool stamps that will now be absorbed into my paper collection/hoarde. you totally renewed my love of craft and swap when it was at an all time low! xo

You really are an angel! I got my package the other day and was totally confused about what it was and then I opened it and just kept pulling stuff out and my fiance was like 'whats going on' 'cause I knew then what it was and I was practically in tears. You are so generous!!! Thank you so much! I wish there were more like you on swapbot
