I'm Sarah, a newly single Bay Area transplant (Oregon-born and mostly raised) working as an Executive Assistant in a cutting-edge laboratory on a medical school campus. I have a German degree and a public health degree and spend my day coordinating events, scanning ancient scientific manuscripts, updating the program's website and enjoying my coworkers.
When I'm not working, I craft.
I am a music junkie. My most recently purchase was a Bob Dylan "essentials" set, but Christina Perri's new album has been on repeat for about a week now. When it's not Perri, it has been Adele or Glee.
I am a classic rock fan as well as a huge Celine Dion fan. I don't go to enough concerts, even though I live in the city that brought us Green Day and across the water from the city that Journey sings about in When the Lights Go Down in the City.
Even moreso than music, I love books. Right now I'm reading The Only Living Witness: The True Story of Serial Sex Killer Ted Bundy, and previous to that, I finished Cutting for Stone. I have Where Men Win Glory: The Odyssey of Pat Tillman and Keep Sweet waiting on my phone (Kindle) to be read.
My favorite books are The Poisonwood Bible, A Tree Grows in Brooklyn and The Handmaid's Tale. My favorite books growing up were The Pushcart War, The Phantom Tollbooth and The Cay.
I am a "classics" fan when it comes to movies. The Wizard of Oz, The Sound of Music and Gone with the Wind are staples in my collection. I am a huge fan of Pixar, loving Up the most, but only a little more than Wall-E. I recently laughed a lot while watching Due Date and enjoy Oceans 12 thoroughly.
I am a reality TV fan - and I have no shame in it. The Biggest Loser, Survivor, Real World, Big Brother and even Campus PD are played on my TV.
Outside of the reality TV fascination, I was a huge LOST fan, am a Dexter fan as well an avid Community watcher.
As I mentioned before, I'm a crafter. I work mostly with paper, but also love to cross-stitch and embroider.
Mostly I create cards with rubber stamps, fun inks and awesome paper. You can see a lot of my creations on my Flickr page, and I am always making new cards. My supplies have grown exponentially in the past six months, prompting me to find somewhere to get the cards out to - it could be you!
