Hi, I am looking forward to using this site, i am new to crafting and hope i can achieve the standards i have seen!
FAVOURITE MUSIC I enjoy all kinds, Kings of Leon, White stripes,The Tiger lillies, much to my sons disgust! When i was a lot younger i used to go and see Free, i loved Paul Kossoff, and was able to meet his dad David, an author quite some time after his sons death, at a book reading. FAVOURITE FILMS My kids think i have weird taste in films i like unusual things, Amelie with Audrey Tatu is one i love, Little miss sunshine, and i have been collecting I Love Lucy videos and DVds, she was a great comedienne. FAVOURITE PLACES, I love all things far eastern, the culture being so different, the old images of japanese people, Chinese and asian indian hold a great fascination for me, though i have never been.I would love to be able to visit Mexico or Cuba, the culture, music dance and colours seem so vibrant i would like its crumbling grandeur. The art of Mexico interests me, the retablo paintings can be funny and the simplicity of the style appeals to me, i also like the day of the dead images and models. For a short break Venice is my favourite city. I enjoy reading Donna Leon novels as they are set in Venice! I have been able to visit Venice about five times and i never get sick of just wandering around the streets, it is so beautiful. Craft wise, I am just learning about textiles and the many applications.Until this year i had never sewn and have learned a little about applique, how to use a machine, free motion embroidery, soluble fibres, fabric ink and hand embroidery. I have also learned some beading skills at a local group meeting in a church hall. FAVOURITE THINGS, Apart from my 2 kids and 2 cats,who were abandoned the cats not the kids. I love silver and turquoise jewellery, i got some pieces many years ago when i visited Florida. I love my large Russian dolls my mam brought me back from her visit to Russia not long after it began to open up to the west. FAVOURITE COLOUR, If i had to choose one it would probably be blue in its many shades, however i like colour all kinds! FAVOURITE ACTIVITY, I have just discovered by going to a local art studio that i am not too bad with pastels and have created about 7 landscape pieces and one for my son of Jimi Hendrix, that was a difficult one, but i finished it and was quite proud, best of all the son thought it acceptable too! well i hope my profile is a little better. Thankyou to the lady that suggested i add some more, as this is all new to me and i was grateful for the guidance. Looking forward to swapping. Bye
