Hello!

My name is Miukki and I'm a 21-year-old comic artist / graphic designer from Northern Finland. I live in a small and windy coastal town with my boyfriend.

In the future I intend to make my living out of drawing comics. I also really really REALLY want to get a pug as soon as we live in a bigger place and have money.

This spring I graduated as agraphic designer from Sofia Lybecker's Institute of Crafts and Design (sounds fancy but it really isn't). Currently I'm unemployed, but during the summer I will be improving my portfolio and after that I'll start looking for a job.

I've also studied comics in Liminka School of Arts. Those two years pretty much changed my life (in a good way). I learned so much about drawing and life, got great, dear friends and even met my boyfriend there (he's a comic artist too). I also grew up from a dumb teenager to a pretty nice young adult.

Nowadays I visit Finnish comic festivals regularly, sometimes I sell stuff there, sometimes I just hang out. I've published some zines and I keep a comic diary which I publish in my blog (link above, it's in Finnish though). Occasionally I get some illustration jobs too.

Comics, art in general, pugs, kittens, tea, cola, bows and lace and ruffles, pretty shoes, One Piece (the manga, not the overalls), autumn, riding my bike, coffee&cigarettes, vintage/retro stuff, videogames, second-hand stores, old buildings, music videos, watercolours, there are just too many things to list! I could say I can find beauty in almost everything...

... except in spiders. I have a very bad arachnophobia, I can't even look at pictures of them without shivering. :I

Ayumi Hamasaki, Capsule, Perfume, Chihiro Onitsuka, Aira Mitsuki, Sigur Rós, Stella, video game soundtracks, Disney soundtracks etc.

I like music you can dance to or sing-along, and in a car anything goes as long as it's loud :D

I rarely read books nowadays, and my bookself is mainly filled with comics. My favourites are One Piece, Persepolis, Tiitu Takalo's works, Junko Mizuno's works, Blacksad, Perry Bible Fellowship, Yotsuba&!, Northern Overexposure etc. I also love zines!

My guilty pleasure is overly melodramatic and glittery shoujo-manga, especially Arina Tanemura's books.
