I love to watch the "Judges" and Judge Judy is my favorite Also, HGTV and the Food channel are on a lot. And the crime shows like Longmire,NCIS and CSI. Since I am retired, I don't feel a bit guilty.
.
I'm retired but still busy. I spent 20 years in the Marine Corps and 25 years in the USPS. Lately, I have been babysitting my 2-and-half year old grandson, and there is not much sitting involved.
I like vintage magazines and interesting paper. I used to be a fabriholic, but went through downsizing and donated yards and yards to a local church. Then I started to collect other things and time to get rid of some of that, too.
Right now, on my kitchen table I am trying to figure out how to make a lamp out of an turbo charger, and creating tin can robots, reframing a picture and ironing. I also have a cast iron three burner grill to clean up and do something with. More in the basement.
I read murder mysteries, especially historical, cooking, crafting and decorating magazines and several archaeological and history magazines.
I like to bead, decoupage, paint and just make stuff like robots out of tin cans, jewelry out of hardware. I paint flags on old windows, picket fences and tin ceiling tiles. I also and make planters from old chamber pots and tea and coffee pots. In the summer I spend a lot of time in the yard gardening and making more stuff. I have a basement full of PHDs--projects half done.
There is a thrift store close to my house that seems like my second home at times. Since I retired, I have been downsizing and cleaning out stuff which makes trips to the thrift store necessary. But I can't seem to leave the store empty-handed, especially if I find a piece of Blue Willow china. Or something I can repurpose.
A real passion is genealogy. I have researched my own tree and I answer questions on Yahoo.com genealogy forum. The thrill is in the hunt--finding that lost ancestor or the missing marriage record.
Another passion is cooking which can be a problem since everything gravitates towards my waistline and stays there.
I have a china hutch full of Blue Willow pieces collected from garage and estate sales, the thrift store that I haunt regularly and eBay. My basement is full of future projects--old coffee pots, wood, Christmas items and lots of paint. I also love little jars that I can make into faux terrariums. They are for those friends with brown thumbs. There are also two shelves of blue mason jars that have been passed down or found at garage sales and I use them for different crafts and food storage.
