I’m brand spanking new to Swap-Bot and to writing a profile. Somehow I’ve successfully managed to avoid all profile type things for years and years….my luck ran out, but in a good way, I hope!
I’m super eager to jump in to the world of swaps and penpals and learning more about my favorite crafts and people from all over the US and the world.
I’m grown, no kids, no hubby, just me, my cat, my dog, and 5 chickens. I like things simple and easy and complicated and challenging, depending on the mood and motivation. Entering a variety of swaps seems to be just the ticket.
I keep chickens, and have a dog and a cat, both spoiled rotten. I’m a beginner gardener and canner and slowly expanding my knowledge there. I’m a writer, though I write about fictional people and their adventures, not my own, hence the lack of creativity in this profile…
I find nature beautiful – love mountains and forest paths and peaceful meadows. Animals fascinate and charm me whether powerful predators or clever hares.
History is another fascination-anything from ancient Greece/Rome, Renaissance, Medieval, Regency/Victorian up to the time of the Flappers, stopping pretty solidly around the 1950s. Not so much military history, but the architecture, lifestyles, the arts of the times, the people, these are all of huge interest.
Music – Music is amazing. Something as simple as a three minute song can turn your day around. Love the 90s alternative bands, mainstream rock, up to and including modern folk, chillstep and mood music, open to almost anything, and love discovering new favorites.
I love cooking, but have to follow a recipe to achieve any sort of success, so am constantly on the prowl for my next favorite recipe.
I love to crochet—scarves, hats, shawls, sweaters, mittens, table settings, book marks—whatever needs doing or looks fun. Going to beginning on curtains for the first time soon, I hope. So anything to do with crochet is welcome—yarn, hooks, patterns, etc. Hoping to expand my fibre arts into macrome and embroidery one of these days.
Papers—Recently discovered Junk Journaling and am Officially Obsessed, so avidly collecting any and all sorts of paper, lace & trim, fabric scraps, buttons, doilies, pressed flowers, dye cutsyou name it, I will find a way to work with it. Am leaning how to fold clever envelopes, decorate pages and cards and tags and more envelopes. Love love love the whole process. Its calming and taps into my creativity and just makes me tremendously happy. I hope to pick up a sewing machine soon. Inherited one from my mother, another from my grandmother, but both are very very old and missing parts.
Colors! I love jewel tones and earth tones. The colors of a proud peacock and the colors of a sun setting into a forest of trees, that’s my spectrum. Lately I’m gravitating to a lot of neutrals, blues and greens. Not a fan, at all, of neon colors.
Styles…might include anything from Victorian lace and Art Nouveau decorative to Art Deco sleek. I can appreciate just about anything. I love fantasy and fantasy art, especially creatures and landscapes. But I also love historical settings and cyberpunk.
Overly bright colors, glitter that will get everywhere, noisy things, things suitable for kids or teachers, anything political.
Being brand new, I'm not sure entirely what to expect. But I will send for any swap I send up for or reach out as directed in the description if I absolutely cannot make it happen. I will rate, based on the description of the swap, not my taste, and hope for the same.
