Hello, I'm Jack.
I'm 23, a Christmas baby, and a middle child. My two siblings and I spent most of our childhoods in a small, North Idaho town. We enjoyed a clean freshwater lake in the summertime, and a great ski resort during winter.
I've always been an outgoing guy with a thirst for adventure, a love for the theater, and a passion for European history. I spent my senior year of high school saving my pennies in order to spend the summer of my graduation road-tripping through Europe. There, I fell in love with Denmark and decided to drop everything and move! Now I study business at a university in Odense.
Some hobbies include: vintage fashion, sewing, swing dancing, historical theater, tabletop roleplay, calligraphy, rock climbing, and board games.
Hmm... I like small crafty projects like weaving friendship bracelets out of embroidery floss, leather-working, knitting, and other simple small crafting. Additionally, I enjoy drawing, cooking and calligraphy. I never say no to trying out new crafts, though! I've also tried quilting, both by hand and with a quilting machine.
Books! All-time favorite would have the be The Count of Monte Cristo, but I also LOVE Les Miserables.
I also love historical fiction. Especially taking place in the early-mid 20th century. WWI and WWII era are especially exciting for me. Ken Follett's Pillars of the Earth and Century trilogy were favorites.
Anything and everything 40's! I love swing and jazz and old sea shanties. I also like folk music from around the world and when I'm feeling down, nothing cheers me up like the ABBA Gold CDs. I have a guilty pleasure for 80's music. Simon and Garfunkel too -- love those guys. I'm not too picky when it comes to music, I can usually appreciate any music that's thrown my way.
History! Especially early to mid 20th century. I love vintage postcards and stamps from this era.
Sailing: I love all things nautical. Period.
Tabletop Roleplay & Board Games: I LOVE board games and have been building up a collection. I also play a number of tabletop roleplay systems including D&D, Genesys, GURPS, and Edge of the Empire, so I'm always super excited about random encounter tables, new monster ideas, and dice!
Cooking: Who doesn't like tasty food? I love to barbecue and bake. Smoked ribs and cheese cake are two of my favorite things to make and eat. I enjoy receiving new recipes from people so long as they're EU friendly -- there are some ingredients that are difficult to procure in Denmark.
Classic Goldfish Crackers. These are my absolute favorite snack. They're not available in Denmark, though, so I mostly just eat them in my dreams. You can't go wrong with a little ziplock of Goldfish.
Spicy Food: I like all kinds of spicy food: Indian, Thai, Mexican, you name it! Good spicy food is hard to come by in Denmark, though. Hot sauces, spices, and peppers are always well-received.
Pokemon. I love it. Anything Pokemon is always appreciated. Cards, drawings, stickers. I love it all. This also applies to Doctor Who, Star Wars, Steven Universe, & Adventure Time.
I love to read, so if you're into writing, I'd love to receive a short story or a tidbit of your writing. I don't care what the genre is, could be sad or funny or childish or romantic.
Collections: I have three main collections:
1.) Old stamps -- I LOVE old stamps. Doesn't matter to me if they're used or not.
2.) Old fashioned bow ties -- Yes, the kind you have to tie yourself. Especially if they're hand-made or unique in some way.
3.) Embroidery Floss -- I use it to make bracelets and I can never have too many or too wacky of colors.
Honesty I would enjoy anything personal. A drawing, a bracelet, a poem. Just show me a piece of yourself through some form of art and I can guarantee my appreciation.
Pistachio. Anything pistachio related. This is the only food I don't like.
