I live in the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia - love the country. I love longhaired Miniature Dachshunds... have 6: Lord Alfred Tennyson (Alf for short), Lady Promise Rosebud (Missy). Margaret Thatcher (Maggie), Moses (just Moses), Dixie (a shelter rescue) and last but not least, Ginger (another rescue). Two cats that my husband and daughter rescued and talked me into keeping: Stella and Luna. Yes, the dogs and cats get along....I think Luna the cat thinks she IS a dog. Stella is definitely all cat and proud of it. I am a freelance writer - focus mainly on poetry/prose. I also write Pet Poetry - in honor of, or in memory of your beloved pet (usually dogs). I matt and frame the finished product - comes in an 11x14 frame and looks very nice in home or office. I sell these -- you can contact me if interested in details.
I am basically anti-social and keep to myself for the most part. I like quiet and peace, no crowds. Sort of like a hermit, but I'm probably not that short and I don't live in a shack. At least not yet. I like to think outside the box in life - anything is possible. Reading is a great escape - some favorites authors: Dean Koontz, Ann Rice, Patricia Briggs, Vicki Pettersson, P.N.Elrod, Charlaine Harris, Stephen King, Simon R. Green, and anyone who pens a good thriller or "bump in the dark" story.
Some favorite movies and TV shows: Interview w/the Vampire, Lost Boys, VanHelsing, Underworld, Matrix, Pirates of the Caribbean, Resident Evil, Sopranos, House, True Blood, OZ, The X-Files, 6 Feet Under, Dead Like Me, Carnivale, Family Guy (hey, I gotta laugh sometimes), etc... I lean toward Classic Rock music (of endless delight to my daughter) but enjoy other styles as well. Prefer a good swimming hole over a pool, but my idea of camping is an air conditioned room, TV and pizza delivery. Favorite food? Hmmm.. probably a good Rib Eye or New York Strip steak; I like comfort foods -- and -- I LOVE to cook. I like Wolves, Bats, Penguins and Moose. Prefer a moonlit night over a sunny afternoon. When we do go to the beach, my favorite time to walk is in the dusk or dark. When I sit out on our deck, again the favorite time is evening. I like candles, and dragons, and nice smelling incense. Sometimes I do tarot readings and rune readings for fun. I have been known to craft anything from dreamcatchers to medicine pouches - personal spell charms to homemade hard crack Christmas candy. Crocheted afghans to handmade bath salts.
My favorite colors are purple, silver, grey, black and forest green. One of my favorite quotes is: "Hands have not tears to flow." - Dylan Thomas. Whew! There - done!
